Under MOT’s campaign “India Says I Do”, around 25 key destinations were selected to explore how India fits into their wedding goals and captures the essence of India’s grandeur. It also aims to explore new avenues and scale tourism in India to new heights.

V Vidyavathi, Secretary Tourism said that the vibrant villages hold immense potential for adventure tourism. The Ministry of Tourism will soon arrange a meeting with the defence authorities to engage the youth from these vibrant villages in training them as adventure tourist guides. She also informed that the expenses associated with this training be fully covered by the ministry. 

Rakesh Kumar Verma, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism said that the Vibrant Villages Program that is being developed in a sustainable manner. For that, we need to keep in mind the carrying capacity of the area and undertake development accordingly.

The Ministry of Tourism has selected Lakshadweep for a holistic mission to be developed as a sustainable and responsible destination under its Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme. Meanwhile, the Lakshadweep administration is planning to develop eco-tourism projects in 11 islands in public-private partnership, according to federal policy think tank NITI Aayog which has sought proposals from consultants.

Government of India’s e-Medical Visa and e-Medical Attendant Visa is permitting triple entry and extension up to 6 months on case to case basis on merits of each case by the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers/Foreigners Registration Officer concerned.

Minister of Tourism, G. Kishan Reddy said in Lok Sabha that in order to attract foreign investment in the tourism sector, 100% FDI is allowed under the automatic route in the tourism and hospitality industry in India, subject to applicable regulations and laws.

G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, has said that all destinations where G20 meetings were held, have attracted global attention and put India on the global tourism map. “G20 meetings have fostered collaboration between governments, private sector and other stakeholders.”

According to provisional data received from Bureau of Immigration, the Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India during January to April 2023 reached 79 per cent of FTAs during the same period in 2019, revealed G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, in Rajya Sabha.

G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism said, “There is immense scope for the tourism sector in India’s Northeast region, but there has not been sufficient private investment. Without private investment, tourism in any country cannot be developed and moved forward.”
