MTDC to host ‘Maharashtra Food Festival’ in Nagpur

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation in association with Vidarbha Economic Development Council will be hosting ‘Maharashtra Food Festival’. The six-day festival will be held from December 6, 2016 to December 11, 2016 at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur. The first three days will showcase cultural performances followed by a khadi fashion show to promote the use of khadi material. Madan Yerawar, Hon’ble State Tourism Minister, Government of Maharashtra stated, “The local cuisine of the state is the greatest indicator of the traditions of Maharashtra. Maharashtrian food has created benchmarks all over the world with certain dishes being specialties of the regions or communities. Nagpur is a major and third most populated city of the state of Maharashtra in India and is famous for its culture, cuisine and oranges. This six-day festival will not only boost tourism in the state but will also highlight various facets of the city and will also push local economy.”

MTDC’s Agri Tourism Conclave in Nagpur on Nov 20

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has taken a step towards boosting agriculture tourism with its Agri Tourism Conclave 2016 in the Vidharba region will take place on 20 November 2016, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development in Nagpur, during the Kalidas Festival 2016. The motive of this conclave is to increase employment and investment opportunities in agro tourism in the region. The conclave will be inaugurated by Pravin Datke, Mayor, Nagpur followed by a presentation on encouraging people to take up agri-tourism as a profession by enterprising speakers from Baramati, Washim, Pune, Nagpur and Satara. This will serve two purposes i.e. boosting the farmer’s income and also bringing rural India closer to the cities. Dr. KH Govinda Raj, Managing Director, MTDC said, “As tourism is becoming increasingly important to the economy. Agricultural tourism is one alternative for improving the incomes and potential economic viability of small farms and rural communities. The objectives for promoting rural and agri-tourism is to educate the public and promote the products of the farm and generate additional farm income; provide rural experience to urban residents and allow diversification of income opportunity to farms and ranches that can help buffer fluctuating markets.”

MTDC to assist JICA team for Ajanta Ellora tourism development project

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will assist the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) team for the Ajanta Ellora conservation and Tourism Development Project Phase II. JICA India office (JICA, New Delhi) had recently send a letter to Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation regarding the external evaluation of the JICA ID – P150 ( i.e. AEDP – Phase II project). The JICA team will visit the sites between November 27, 2016, and December 24, 2016. Following the visit, studies will continue for almost one year, i.e. up to October 2017. Various respected diverse agencies have also assigned to complete the allocated components which include Central Government agencies such as ASI, AAI along with MTDC and other State Government Institutions, etc. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and its branches have completed the assigned components given of the projects (for example, Ajanta Visitor Center and Ellora Visitor Center was completed by work branch of MTDC, Public Awareness by Publicity branch, HRD by Development Branch and IT related work by IT branch).  MTDC has further requested its respective officer to note the tour program and assist JICA team. MTDC offers special Diwali package

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced the launch of its special Diwali package to Alibaug this festive season. The tour will start from Gateway of India and will proceed to Mandava by ferryboat and will further proceed to the majestic Murud Janjira fort. Tourists will get to experience destinations like the beautiful Birla Mandir which lies on the Alibaug-Roha route, near Salve Village and sightseeing at beaches like Alibaug, Nagav, and Kihim. The 1 night, 2 days package is valid for October 30, 2016. Swati Kale, General Manager, MTDC commented on this initiative and said, “Under the guidance of Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, MTDC has introduced this package to celebrate the festival of lights in a whole new illuminating way. This initiative will not only increase tourism activities in the state, but also give an opportunity to tourists from outside the state and experience the pristine and tranquil beaches of Alibaug. MTDC promotes tourism in Aurangabad

A three-day International Ellora-Ajanta festival organised by MTDC in association with Divisional Commissioner Aurangabad was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Ellora Caves. Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, visited the monuments, caves, Bibi ka Maqbara and Panchakki in Aurangabad and discussed about the cleanliness and preservation of the historic monuments with the ASI officials and tourism officials. To boost tourism flow of the historic city of Aurangabad, a meeting with all the stake holders like the Aurangabad hotelier, travel agents and taxi drivers’ association also took placed with Rawal, where he also proposed that work skills and development sessions will be conducted for the rickshaw and taxi driver in Aurangabad. He also discussed in length about the ideas on how to make Aurangabad the top most visited city in India. In the stakeholders meeting, Rawal, announced “Aurangabad is a historic city in Maharashtra state of India. The city is known as the tourist hub, surrounded by beautiful historic monuments, a visit to this city is truly a cultural as well as an architectural delight for the tourist; it’s a great privilege for us to have such marvelous creations around us. We are all responsible for the cleanliness and preservation of these monuments. If the city and the environment around the monuments are clean and maintained, it will boost the tourism in the city. Aurangabad will also host tourism conclave every year and will also host rediscovery of Ajanta caves centenary year 2019 very soon. MTDC, TAAI inaugurate Mumbai Darshan tours for seniors

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) recently organised special Mumbai Darshan Tours for senior citizens on the occasion of Daan Utsav – the festival of giving week. This initiative was undertaken by MTDC along with the assistance of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI). The Mumbai Darshan Tours was inaugurated at the hands of Swati Kale, General Manager, MTDC. The tour commenced from Dadar (East) and covered all the iconic places in Mumbai like Siddhivinayak Temple, Gateway of India, Mani Bhavan to name a few.

MTDC launches Navratri Darshan Tours for the first time

On the occasion of Navratri that is celebrated in Maharashtra with much pomp, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced the launch of its unique Navratri Darshan Tours for the first time for all the devotees in Mumbai. The Navratri Darshan Tour will spin across five of the most iconic Devi temples in the city which include Mumbadevi temple in Kalbadevi; Mahalakshmi temple; Dagdi Chawl in Byculla; Murubaidevi temple in Matunga and Shitladevi temple in Mahim.  The tour will commence from Bhatia Baug BEST bus depot near CST wherein 40 tourists in each AC bus will be accommodated. MTDC offers to join hands with IHHA

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has offered to join hands with the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) at the 5th edition of the Annual Convention of IHHA held on 3rd September, 2016 at Fateh Prakash Palace in Udaipur. At the convention, Jaykumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, stated, “IHHA has played a significant role in reviving the rich culture and heritage of the country and has given a new dimension to world tourism. Maharashtra is a state that has some of the most historic and magnificent monuments and tourists from across the world look forward to experience such places. Jadhavgadh fort was converted into the state’s first heritage hotel in the memory of Shri. Chhatrapati Shahuji. Dhepewada is also one of the unique properties which is a newly constructed Wada based on Maratha Architecture. There are 450 forts and palaces on the beaches of the state that remain untapped. MTDC launches Ganesh Darshan tours in Mumbai

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced the launch of Ganesh Darshan Tours for devotees in Mumbai. The Ganesh Darshan Tour will spin across the six of the most popular Ganesh pandals in Mumbai which includes Lalbaugcha Raja, Siddhivinayak temple, Andhericha Raja, Girgaoncha Raja Mumbaicha Raja and G.S.B. Sioncha Raja. The tour will commence from Dadar wherein 45 tourists in each AC bus will be accommodated. It will start from September 6-8, 2016 from 8am to 5pm at Rs 2,001 (inclusive of breakfast and lunch). Jaykumar Rawal, Tourism Minister, Government of Maharashtra on this initiative commented, “When it comes to Ganesh Chaturthi, the entire Mumbai soaks in its spirit, taking a break from the daily routine. The festival brings along with it a lot of excitement and enthusiasm amongst devotees. MTDC opens bookings for Tadoba, Pench Tiger Reserves

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has opened bookings at the famous tiger reserves – the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and Pench Tiger Reserve – for tourists this monsoon. Satish Soni, Joint Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation said, “In India, Monsoons may bring disappointment for wildlife lovers because many parks get closed in this season. But considering that monsoon only further enhances the picturesque beauty of these forest areas and more people are demanding to experience this wildlife experience in the monsoon season MTDC has given them an opportunity to take a nature trail in this season too.” MTDC has its resorts at Moharli Gate located on the edge of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and MTDC Jungle Resort in Pench, Sillari, respectively. The gates for Pench Tiger Reserve will be open from Sunna and Mathani entrance points until Tipeshwar Resort.
