Globus Family of Brands conducts certification programmes for travel agents

The Globus family of brands is showing its solidarity to its partners by empowering them with vital destination knowledge. Realizing that ultimately one of the concerns faced by frontline sellers is not only lack of good destination knowledge but also it being present with them as a ready reckoner of information and tips that can be used to convince clients. The Globus family of brands has therefore re-launched its destination programmes with ‘I Know South America’ and ‘I Know Europe’ certifications based on popular demand. Globus family pioneered destination specialisation in 2008 with the launch of ‘I Know Europe’. Varesh Chopra, Regional Director, Globus family of brands, says, “A vacation should be absolutely stress-free and unique for every traveler. This is where a travel agent steps in as a partner. We chose these destinations for the re-launch of our certification programs due to little knowledge on these countries and the fact that our opinion poll pointed out these regions as a top choice amongst sellers.” The programs were overwhelmingly successful with over 500 agents from India, Srilanka, Mauritius and the Middle East taking part in each session. Program attendees were put through an extensive training schedule over three days in May, June and August.

Globus family of brands announces coronavirus travel policy

The Globus family of brands has instituted a travel policy which states that they are proactively suspending the operation of all China itineraries – and those vacations that include stops in China – through April 30, 2020. Travellers affected by these cancellations have been informed in order to adjust their travel plans. The step has been taken in response to COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent Health Ministry warnings to avoid all travel to China. As an added precaution for the health and safety of all of its guests, anyone who has travelled from/visited or transited through China, Macau, or Hong Kong, within the 21 days prior to the start of their vacation will be restricted on Globus family tours. Additionally, some governments have implemented wider restrictions that limit the arrival of travellers who have travelled from/visited or transited through countries beyond those currently within the Globus policy above. If they have recently travelled overseas, it is recommended that travellers check the current travel policy of their final destinations. The Globus family of brands continues to monitor the situation closely to determine if additional modifications and updates are needed in accordance with the Indian and international travel advisements and policies. Therefore, Globus is offering an interim policy for its travellers and agents to adjust travel plans and help alleviate immediate concerns and related penalties. At this time, all of its tours are operating as scheduled with the exception of mainland China. Further updates are available on the websites – CosmosVacations.in; GlobusJourneys.in

We see this as a very good sign and we have developed a number of river cruises that are shorter – not the seven or 14-night cruises but three, four and five-nights which is perfect for those who just want a taste of what a river cruise is like and maybe add something around it to make it a part of a bigger trip. Avalon Waterways launches river cruise on the Ganges

Avalon Waterways, one of the brands under the Globus family of brands, has launched its new river cruise on the Ganges. Scott Nisbet, President and CEO, Globus family of brands, announced this in Mumbai on his visit to India to meet the travel trade partners. He said, “We started a new river cruise on the Ganges early this week. It is our new Avalon Waterways product and a seven-day cruise, round-trip to Kolkata that goes up north to the little towns. It is a fascinating trip and guests can add to that and turn it into a 13-day, 15-day, and even an 18-day cruise by including the Golden Triangle or Varanasi. So these extensions would not be a river cruise, they would be a tour. We are primarily focusing that on Western markets like US, Canada, Australia and the UK but it is also a great option for Indians as well. It’s a 54-passenger luxury ship, all-inclusive which means all meals, drinks and all excursions. It is also perfect for a small incentive group. We have taken a number of sailing, 75 per cent sold already, agents can start selling now.”

Globus & Cosmos conducts interactive sessions with tour director

The Globus Family of Brands recently conducted an interactive session in the format of a talk show with one of its most senior tour directors, Benjamin Deham. Titled ‘Banter with Big Ben’, the event featured the Belgian tour director who spoke about what happens behind the scenes during every tour. Abira Sinha, Regional Sales Manager – India, Globus Family of Brands (India), explains, “We took this show to five cities across India that included Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. The idea was to bring to the travel trade what their clients experience on these tours. Usually, when they come back they talk about the tour director who can make a significant difference to the quality of the tour. He can really make or break it.” While in India, Benjamin spoke about how the tour is organised, how he deals with different challenges while on tour and how he overcomes them to give the best experience to guests. Sinha adds, “One of the biggest factors for clients coming back is the tour director. Benjamin had all these funny stories and anecdotes that he narrated to our travel partners. It was learning with fun instead of just seeing a presentation.”
