Economic Survey 2022 says Air India sale will boost recovery in aviation sector

Recovery of the pandemic-hit Indian aviation sector will benefit from the sale of Air India and the handover of the airline to the Tata Group, the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament said. The annual report card of the economy that comes a day ahead of the Budget said the Air India handover, coupled with a boost to digital infrastructure and structural reforms in telecommunications, would have a positive impact on the pace of recovery of the aviation sector.

Kerala Travel Mart 2022 dates rescheduled to 5th- 8th May, 2022

The Kerala Travel Mart dates have been rescheduled from 24th-27th March to 5th-8th May, 2022 at the same venue. Speaking on the change, Dr Venu Vasudevan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education and Tourism, Govt of Kerala, said, “We know that in certain regions, there are still restrictions that are applicable. So having considered all these matters, the KTM society has decided to postpone the Mart. We do this to ensure that all those people who have expressed interest in participating are given the opportunity to do so. We already have more than 1,100 travel partners who’ve expressed interest in participating and we want to ensure that every one of them will gather here physically during KTM.”

MoT allocates Rs 2,400 crore in 2022-23 budget, 18% higher than last year: Reddy

To meet the fund requirements for the various schemes implemented by the Ministry of Tourism during the Financial Year 2022-23, the Finance Minister has earmarked an allocation of Rs 2,400 crore in the Union Budget 2022-23, said Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy. This allocation he said, is 18.42% higher than the Budget allocation for the year 2021-22 and 76.82% more than the allocation of 2013-14.

MOT mulls tourism clubs in schools for adventure activities: G Kamala Vardhana Rao

G Kamala Vardhana Rao, Director General, Tourism, has shared that recently, MOT has come out with the formation of tourism clubs in schools and colleges. “These clubs will make a calendar of events, which will include adventure tourism activities. MOT increases digital ticketing at state managed monuments including UNESCO sites: Rupinder Brar

Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, has said that the MOT has increased the use of digital ticketing at all the state managed monuments, which includes all the UNESCO World Heritage sites. “This step has not  to not only avoid long lines, but also to make sure that you can just plan your travel better, safer and with much more hygiene. Tourism & Events Queensland, jointly with Tourism Australia, announces photo contest for travel trade partners in India

Tourism & Events Queensland, in conjunction with Tourism Australia, has specially produced tutorial guides on how to capture the best ‘Night’, ‘Action’ and ‘Landscape’ photography shots. These tutorials (a series of 3 x 2mins videos) are produced in association with Queensland’s content creator Jesse Lindeman. To inject a bit of fun, the State Tourism Organisation is running a photography contest only for its India-based trade partners. The first 25 qualified entries will win a A$20 Amazon vouchers. In addition, the top three winners will also win one of Jesse’s exclusive Queensland print (framed).     The contest is open to all outbound travel trade staff based in India. However, the participant will need to register as an Aussie Specialist Program (ASP) agent in Tourism Australia’s online portal. It is easy. All the staff need to do is to login (or register if he/she is not yet an ASP agent) to learn from a few easy tips explained in the tutorials. Each participant then submit his/ her your own favorite photo(s) to Diksha Singh (dsingh@tourism.australia.com) by 28th January 2022.
