‘AdventureNEXT’ opens with 200 attendees in Bhopal

With its focus on adventure tourism by combining marketplace, meetings and networking opportunities, nearly 200 delegates took part at the first-ever ongoing ‘AdventureNEXT’ in Bhopal, also including participants from abroad. Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism; Swadesh Kumar, President, ATOAI and Akshay Kumar, Chairman, AdventureNEXT committee graced the event. The convention was witnessed by global buyers, international/national media representatives, sellers and office bearers of the Adventure Tour Operators Association, hotels, hospitality and tour operators who came to expand their knowledge spectrum and itinerary offerings. Hahn Air Systems introduces chatbot ‘Heidi’ to support passengers

Hahn Air Systems has launched chatbot ‘Heidi’, increasing its digital servicing channels to now include passengers. It will initially be available on Facebook with plans to expand it further in the future. Developed in cooperation with Spain-based technology company Caravelo, Heidi was launched to support passengers travelling on one of over 80 Hahn Air Systems’ partner airlines. By visiting Heidi on Facebook, travellers will now able to chat privately via Facebook Messenger and receive immediate assistance with matters relating to the provider’s H1-Air solution and the respective partner carriers’ services. They can thus enquire about their booking details, baggage allowance for their flights, itineraries as well as obtain support for web check-ins. In the initial phase, Heidi will communicate with passengers in English, other languages will follow. Alexander Proschka, Head, Hahn Air Systems, said, “Although Hahn Air Systems is a purely business-to-business solutions provider, we wanted to give the growing number of travellers who travel with one of our H1-Air carriers, the possibility to access instantaneous, round-the-clock support. HRA Gujarat choses Yatra.com as its preferred partner for online bookings

Yatra Online been chosen as the preferred online booking partner for reservations by the Hotels and Restaurant Association (HRA) of Gujarat. In a meeting held in Ahmedabad recently, the association headed by Narendra Somani, President, HRA Gujarat, announced that Yatra.com would be their preferred online booking partner and all bookings coming through it will be honoured. The association has assured travellers that they can make their bookings through Yatra.com and continue to enjoy their stay in Gujarat. STB partners with Ola to offer passengers a chance to visit Singapore

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced a partnership with Ola to run a campaign from December 1 to 15, 2018 across 19 cities in West and Central India for its customers to win a trip to Singapore. Ola users will have to take a minimum of three rides and enter the promocode “SINGAPORE” to participate in the contest. Three pairs of winners will be selected and will be notified via email by December 31, 2018. Now fly direct to Gaya, Bhubaneswar and Vizag from Bangkok on Thai AirAsia

Thai AirAsia is introducing three new routes to Gaya, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam from December 3, 6 and 7, respectively. The airline will operate four direct flights a week from Bangkok to Gaya on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. From Bhubaneswar to Bangkok, direct flights will operate thrice a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Besides, flights from Vizag to Bangkok will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The return flights would be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Rudra Marketing, along with the support of African Eden DMC, East Africa recently concluded a limited-edition Familiarisation trip to Kenya for seven nights, covering Nairobi, Amboseli, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. UK registers 10 per cent growth in Indian visit visas from October 2017 to September 2018

Indian visitors and tourist numbers saw a strong growth with visit visas increasing by 10 per cent to 468,923 from October 2017 to September 2018, according to the latest report on Immigration Statistics published by the Home Office. This was the largest absolute increase for any country and means that over one in five UK visit visas are going to Indian nationals. Commenting on the figures, Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG, the British High Commissioner to India, said, “This update provides yet more evidence that the UK is open to Indian business, students and tourists. I’m particularly pleased by the 33 per cent increase in Indian students, which means thousands more young Indians are making the most of the UK’s world-class education system.” Moreover, Indian student numbers have strongly increased for the second year in a row. About 18,735 Indian nationals were granted a Tier IV student visa in the year ending September 2018. This was a 33 per cent increase compared to the the previous year – which was in itself a 27 per cent increase on the year before that.

India’s capital expenditure was 11% in tourism between 2011-17: Khwaja at Travel MiCE Show

Speaking at the 5th edition of the Travel MiCE Show at the Hyderabad Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre, RH Khwaja, Former Secretary, Tourism, revealed that India’s capital expenditure was 11 per cent in tourism between 2011-17. He further said that India is growing in MiCE sector and there is a need for quality in terms of offering MiCE services. Besides, he insisted that India needs to work on its domestic products, apart from foreign exchange earnings by inbound tourists.
