Travel the world with ‘Going Places’, a new book that discovers exciting travel tales of top global executives

Stefano Pelle, an accomplished author, teacher and travel enthusiast, unveiled his book ‘Going Places’, today at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The book is the ideal combination of an enjoyable read with a dash of thrilling travel stories written by top business leaders across the world.

The book was released in the presence of the prominent author, Member of Parliament and former diplomat Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Yashovardhan Azad, Chairman of DeepStrat and former Central Information Commissioner, and Secretary-Security, Special Director of IB and Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO of CBRE for India, South-East Asia, the Middle East and Africa. A panel discussion about the book featuring interesting travel experiences and insights from the authors kicked off the evening.

Adding a unique perspective to the book is a chapter penned by Indian business leader Anshuman Magazine, who was present for the launch. His chapter offers readers a rare glimpse into his travel experience in Cuba, a narrative filled with captivating travel tales. Beyond the entertainment, his stories provide insightful accounts of his travels, shedding light on both the challenges and joys he encountered.

In the book, “Going Places,” editors Stefano Pelle and Gerhard Apfelthaler present an expansive tapestry of perspectives from top-notch business leaders across the world. Every story, whether from an Indian business leader and socialite or an American corporate lawyer, offers unique and unexpected insights, filled with interesting and thought-provoking anecdotes. Within the book’s narratives, one will discover firsthand accounts from authors accomplished business owners and seasoned managers who have travelled to parts of the world for work. While some concentrate on lighthearted, commonplace events, others share their thoughts on handling business circumstances across countries during the past 40 years.

According to the editors, the book’s idea happened coincidentally during a virtual MBA course discussion at a US business school that included participants from three continents and various industries. As they discussed themes such as competitive advantage and global arbitrage, one of the CEOs presented recent anecdotes, resulting in a spirited discussion. Seeing how executives and students interacted, they decided to document these stories, which launched the book’s narrative.

Stefano Pelle, Editor of Going Places, said, “Going Places’ is not just a travelogue; it’s a curated collection of diverse experiences shared by top executives from around the globe. Our goal was to bring together different perspectives from business leaders of various backgrounds, from an Indian businessman to an American corporate lawyer and a Dutch manager. Each story offers unique insights—sometimes humorous, sometimes thought-provoking—on their professional and personal journeys. We hope readers find these stories both engaging and enlightening, with an ironic touch that adds to the reading experience.”

Author of a chapter titled, A tropical adventure, in the book , Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO – India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE, said, “Contributing to ‘Going Places’ has given me a fantastic platform to share my travel experiences with other successful business leaders and entrepreneurs. This book transcends travel and business; it skillfully blends personal tales from our international travels with insights from our career experiences. It is not your typical travel or business book, but it does offer valuable insights into the realities of conducting business globally and helpful advice on how to get around different places. I want to express my gratitude to the author for compiling our tales into this amazing anthology that provides readers with both guidance and motivation.”

Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of parliament and former UN diplomat, said, “I am delighted to be part of this book launch, where we unveil the diverse experiences of business travellers worldwide. As we turn the pages, we gain valuable insights into the world of executive travel, often accompanied by a smile. While the allure of first and business-class cabins may be palpable, the stories within these pages reveal the less glamorous realities of frequent business travel— from extended stays living out of a suitcase to the challenges of managing jet lag and balancing professional commitments with personal life. These narratives offer a comprehensive perspective on the executive travel lifestyle, highlighting its rewards and challenges.”

Yashovardhan Azad , Chairman & Co-founder – DeepStrat, Former Central Information Commissioner, said, “Being a part of this launch and this panel is truly fulfilling as it reveals the diverse experiences of global business travellers, offering valuable insights into both the glamour and challenges of executive travelling.”
