The Tripura government plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore to improve tourism infrastructure and make the state a world-class destination. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury expressed confidence that the funding will be sufficient for a tourism boom, with support from the Centre. 

G Kishan Reddy, Minister of tourism highlighted that under Hon. PM’s leadership the whole of government is focussed on addressing the issues faced by investors and urged them to consider greater investments in tourism and hospitality sector. 

According to Nichlas Maratos, Vice President Commercial at Dusit Hotels and Resorts, the company has plans to open a Dusit D2 in Shimla and a Dusit Princess residence in Calcutta later this year. Additionally, the company is exploring multiple other opportunities in resort locations and urban destinations in India.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that it is the responsibility of the people of Goa to take tourism area beyond ‘Sun-Sand-Sea’ concept, for which government can help in creating the infrastructure. “We can create infrastructure in remote areas, however the tourism activities will have to be created by PPP model,” Sawant said. 

Highlighting India’s progress in promoting health and wellness tourism, state tourism minister, Shripad Naik noted that the country witnessed more than 1.4 million medical tourists in the past one year, making it one of the top destinations for medical tourism. He also urged delegates to collectively contribute to a more holistic and sustainable approach to global health and appealed that they engage in meaningful discussion on various aspects of the global health architecture. 

Rakesh Verma, Additional secretary tourism said that Darjeeling is an established destination, and it receives a lot of tourists and the entire region of Siliguri, Darjeeling area has a lot of potential and we will continue to focus on this. There are a lot of adventure tourism opportunities. I am sure that this has got an impetus due to our G20 meeting and we will focus on that.
