e-Visa for Canadian passport-holders restored from 20 December 2022

According to an official order, those Canadian passport-holders who wish to visit India for tourism, business, medical or conference purposes, may apply for eVisa at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html and follow instructions contained therein. Canadian passport-holders seeking to travel to India for any purpose, not qualifying for eVisa, may apply for paper visa at https://www.bisindia-canada.com/. The same process is applicable to Laissez-passer travel document holders. Those who have applied for visa through various BLS Centres in Canada are advised to wait for issuance of the same. All such applications will be processed on priority. Those applicants who wish to withdraw their respective visa applications may do so by visiting the website https://www.bisindia-canada.com/ and choosing the option for Application Withdrawal’. Those who have booked appointments to apply for tourist, business, medical or conference visa at BLS Centres in Canada and would, now, like to apply for eVisa instead, are requested to vacate/cancel their appointment siots so that the same becomes available to others seeking visa/consular services.

India opens e-visa facility for British national once again, website to be ready soon

Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, has just confirmed that the e-visa facility will again be available for UK nationals travelling to India. He said, “The big news today is we are rolling out e-visas once again. This servie will be made available to you forthwith. Sri Lanka introduces five-year multiple entry tourist visa scheme

In an effort to boost the tourism industry amid the economic crisis, the Sri Lankan government on Tuesday said the island nation has extended its multiple-entry tourist visa to five years Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said that Sri Lanka now offers one-year multiple entry visas, reports Xinhua news agency. The country also issues single entry visas with a six-month stay period. Fernandor said that the cabinet of ministers approved his proposal on Monday. “Cabinet agreed to extend five-year multiple-entry tourist visas for 35 countries to help boost repeat tourism in Sri Lanka. A tourist can stay in Sri Lanka for six months in one stretch with this scheme,” he said. The Minister said that the country had earlier offered a three-month “digital nomad” visa for tourists to attract foreigners engaged in remote work. The Minister said that tourism picked up in July and August after the anti-government protests gradually fizzled. He added that they expect 1 million tourists to arrive in Sri Lanka in 2022. “We expect $2 billion from tourism this year,” he said. –IANS
