Recently, Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, said that to boost the tourist numbers, “we are endeavouring to showcase Goa’s myriad offerings to foster a deeper understanding of the state’s cultural and natural wealth apart from coastline through green investments, and Goa beyond beaches.”

Goa partners with Yoska Event Solutions LLP to position the state as a premier destination for sports tourism. On this occasion, Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism and Managing Director, GTDC, stated, “Yoska Event Solutions brings valuable resources to the table, enabling Goa to promote sporting events.

The 4th edition of Goa International Travel Mart is all set to commence from 3-4 April at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa. It will also be held virtually from 3-9 April. Suneel Anchipaka, Director Tourism, Goa said, “GITM 2024 aims to redefine Goa’s tourism landscape by focusing on regenerative, spiritual, and hinterland tourism, setting new standards for sustainability and inclusivity. Over 250 national and int’l buyers are expected to participate in the event.”

At the OTM 2024 at Mumbai, Asia’s premier travel trade show, Goa Tourism stood out by showcasing the state’s pioneering role as the first to launch Regenerative Tourism in the country. At OTM over 35,000 industry professionals and buyers l connected with more than 1600 exhibitors from 60 countries and 30 Indian States & Union Territories. Over three days, from February 8th to 10th, OTM is showcased a sold-out event, emphasizing a commitment to fostering quality networking and connection. The exhibition spans two separate floors of over 250,000 sq. ft, including 35 country pavilions. Goa Tourism’s pavillion at the OTM 2024 at Mumbai highlighted the states diverse initiatives that focuses on promoting responsible tourism practices. The set up depicted Goa’s dedication towards sustainable development through the approach marked under Regenerative Tourism principles. Ekadasha Teertha Yatra, the new Homestay Policy, Caravan Policy, initiatives aimed at promoting heritage preservation, celebrating vibrant festivals, immersing visitors in the rich local culture, offering thrilling adventure opportunities, and providing world-class MICE  facilities in Goa were some of the highlights showcased at the pavillion. In addition to highlighting existing initiatives, Goa Tourism highlighted the launch of new tourism services designed to cater to diverse traveler interests, all aimed at providing visitors with unique and memorable experiences while promoting sustainable practices. The award was presented by Diya Kumari Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister, Govt of Rajasthan. This award recognizes Goa’s leading role in promoting Regenerative Tourism which focuses on responsible and sustainable practices. Goa’s ‘Ekadasha Teertha’ initiative brings together spirituality, local culture, nationalism and conscious tourism. Goa’s efforts in preserving heritage, organizing vibrant festivals, offering adventure activities, and having world-class facilities for meetings and events were highlighted. This shows Goa’s commitment to sustainability. This award firmly establishes Goa as a leader in Regenerative Tourism. It marks an important achievement for Goa’s tourism industry.

The state government of Goa has announced to build its first wellness destination centre and eco-cottages at Anjunem-Keri. Govt has accepted the proposal of Rane Construction for the development, operations, and maintenance of the property with the vision to promote hinterland tourism.

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has launched India’s first regenerative tourism model in the state. He said, “Goa has a rich cultural heritage including some temples known as South Kashi, and 11 spiritual sites in the coastal state would be promoted under the Ekadasha Teertha scheme.”

Goa tourism department has reduced the number of clearances or permissions that trades are required to attach at the time of registration. For a new hotel, an entity can get registration done by submitting three documents such as ownership document, CST registration, if applicable, and an identity proof; while no document needs to be submitted for renewal.

Goa Tourism will be the single window and nodal department for granting permissions to all tourism events, according to new guidelines released by the State Government. Recently, Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister, Goa, had revealed that they are in the process of giving single window clearance for all permissions required for events.

Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant has said that the cancellation of lights connecting the UK and India will affect tourism in Goa. “Tourism in Goa is dependent for its revival on international tourists, mainly those coming from the UK and Russia, so definitively there will be an impact,” he said.
