IndiGo opens gym in Jammu under FitToFly

IndiGo has opened a fully-equipped gym for the police officials in Jammu as part of its FitToFly programme. Commenting on this initiative, Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole-Time Director, IndiGo said, “We are absolutely delighted to see our FitToFly programme being extended to different parts of the country. After a successful launch of FitToFly gyms in twelve cities, we are happy to collaborate with the Jammu police force. At IndiGo, we feel for our police force who work day and night to provide us the security we need. Setting up gyms for them is an important move to encourage them to start making choices to live a healthier life by choosing to be holistically fit.” The FitToFly gyms will be fully equipped with multi-purpose machines, cross trainers, treadmills, bench press and other facilities. As a part of this multi-city campaign to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle – IndiGo launched its first gym at Jaipur international airport, in February this year followed by Gurugram, Dimapur, Chennai, Dehradun, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Goa, Udaipur, Guwahati, Indore, and Varanasi.

IndiGo launches daily direct Singapore-Bengaluru flight

IndiGo has announced its first non-stop flight and 5th overall flight between Singapore and Bengaluru, which will start from June 30, 2017. The launch of the daily direct flight would offer an affordable and a convenient option on two of the busiest business sectors. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said, “Both Singapore and Bengaluru are strong business and tourism hubs and attract significant passenger traffic.  It gives us pleasure to introduce a direct flight on Singapore-Bengaluru route which will save flyers upto three hours of travel each way. We have been witnessing an encouraging traffic to Singapore from the cities in the south of India. There is a large Indian diaspora that resides in Singapore and regularly travels to their home to connect with their heritage and loved ones. Increased to and fro flights will not only boost tourism but also provide an affordable fare and a superior travel experience to flyers.”

IndiGo adds 10 new flights on high-demand routes

IndiGo has announced the expansion of its network by adding 10 new direct flights. Effective June 10, 2017, the airline will operate ninth flight between Hyderabad and Chennai, its third flight between Hyderabad and Raipur, its sixth flight between Chennai and Mumbai, a second flight between Hyderabad and Pune, and its first flight between Pune and Kochi to strengthen connect between metro cities. With its fleet of 134 Airbus A320 family aircraft, IndiGo now operates 934 daily flights connecting 46 destinations.

18.6% growth in India’s domestic air passenger traffic in March ’17

Passengers carried by Indian domestic airlines during Jan-March 2017 were 272.79 lakhs as against 230.03 lakhs during the corresponding period of 2016 thereby registering a growth of 18.59 per cent, informs the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). SpiceJet recorded the highest passenger load factor (PLF) during March 2017 at 91.4 per cent followed by GoAir at 84.8 per cent and IndiGo at 81.6 per cent. According to the data released by DGCA, domestic air passenger traffic passenger load factor in the month of Mar 2017 has declined slightly when compared to previous month, due to lean period. IndiGo recorded the highest punctuality rate at 88 per cent at four major airports of Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai followed by SpiceJet (85.7), Vistara (85.1), Go Air (81.8), Jet Airways+JetLite (80.7) and Air India (79.7).

IndiGo adds Mangalore to its network

Reinforcing its commitment to the south India market, IndiGo has announced Mangalore as its new destination. Effective May 1, 2017, IndiGo will operate daily non-stop flights from Mangalore to Bengaluru and Mumbai at fares starting Rs 1,499. Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo said, “Mangalore, an important seaport and a major commercial centre in Karnataka with the state’s second busiest airport, is fast gaining prominence as a business hub and a tourist gateway. We have been getting requests to connect the city of Mangalore for years. I am now delighted to announce the launch of IndiGo flights from Mangalore. With the inaugural flights attractively priced at Rs. 1499 onwards, we are hopeful that these routes will prove to be immensely popular amongst our flyers.” He further added, “Adding new flights and frequencies on our network is aligned with our commitment to expand affordable air travel in India. IndiGo to launch app for travel trade

IndiGo airlines is all set to launch a dedicated mobile app for the travel trade to make it easier for the trade to do bookings. During a presentation on IndiGo products at the IATO Luncheon on April 6, 2017, Ajay Wadhawan, Associate Vice President, Trade Sales, India, IndiGo, informed that after launching a user friendly application for its consumers, the airline would soon be launching a mobile application for the travel trade fraternity as well. PATA India is pleased to announce its Training program for its Members and their employees on 5th May, 2017. The program is titled “Win-Win Negotiations” and is a full day training program. This Training program will be conducted by Roshan Suhail, an accomplished Trainer, who had the honour of working with leading organizations like  ONGC, NTPC, BHEL, Dhanuka, Shriram Group, UFLEX, YKK, Ashok Leyland, INTEX, HERO Cycles, iEnergizer, Shree Cements, Reliance Securities, and many more. IndiGo to now fly daily to Doha

Strengthening its position in the Middle East, IndiGo has introduced its first daily non-stop flight connecting Doha to Delhi and Mumbai. Doha is IndiGo’s 7th international and 46th overall destination. With Doha as a new destination, IndiGo is all set to enhance connectivity between India and the Gulf region after Dubai, Muscat and Sharjah. The introduction of direct flights connecting Doha to New Delhi and Mumbai will open more convenient travel options for business and leisure travellers including the Indian expatriates based in Middle East. IndiGo has appointed Cindy Szadokierski as Vice President – Airport Operations and Customer Services. With a career in aviation spanning over 30 years, she has held senior leadership positions primarily in the areas of airport operations as well as several other roles in operations, reservations and sales at United Airlines. She brings with her the experience and expertise through a proven record of operational leadership and delivering customer services at a large scale. She will take on the role of Vice President – Airport Operations and Customer Services effective April 17, 2017, and will be reporting to Executive Vice President, Sanjeev Ramdas.

Now, pay Rs 150 extra from T1 for app-based taxis

Passengers leaving from Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 in an app-based cab may have to shell out Rs 150 extra for their ride home from next week.The Delhi airport operator has decided to levy Rs 150 as entry fee from March 22 on commercial vehicles coming to pick passengers from Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1. The charge will double after eight minutes of waiting. The new rate will not be applicable to taxi services that have their counters at the Delhi airport, including Kaali-Peelis.Low-cost carriers such as Indigo, Spicejet and GoAir operate their domestic flights from Terminal 1 and around 20,000 passengers use it every day. The Delhi airport operator had started levying a similar charge at Terminal 3 in 2015.

IndiGo connects Delhi to Madurai via Chennai

Expanding its network in the Southern region, IndiGo has announced two new flights to Madurai. From March 1, 2017, IndiGo will operate a maiden flight from Delhi to Madurai via Chennai and return Madurai to Delhi with a touchdown in Chennai. Madurai has now become the 37th domestic and 42nd overall destination for IndiGo. The airline is also starting Madurai – Hyderabad daily flight from March 26, 2017. Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo, said, “Madurai being a pilgrimage spot and a flourishing cultural hub in Tamil Nadu attracts tourists from across the globe.
