Prashant Ranjan, Director, MOT, has revealed that the National Digital Tourism Mission is on the anvil, for which guidelines will be released soon. “Under the mission, a digital platform will be there where tourism stakeholders can check the availability of the latest policies by state governments, central ministries, the initiatives that the line ministries like Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Road Transport, Ministry of Railways, AYUSH and after COVID even the Ministry of Health is taking. This would reveal how the government is trying to assist the tour operator to have confidence and how India is ready to welcome the tourist,” he revealed.

The Ministry of Tourism has invited final comments from the stakeholders on draft report for setting up of National Digital Tourism Mission. The draft report has also been published on website for suggestions and feedback from public. MOT had constituted an inter-ministerial task force for National Digital Tourism Mission on 23rd July, 2021. The Task Force has prepared a draft report on proposed National Digital Tourism Mission, which inter-alia lays down domain and technology principles, standards, digital stack, governance structure and plan for implementation of the envisaged National Digital Tourism Mission.

Rakesh Verma, Additional Secretary, Tourism has said MOT has come out with a draft National Tourism Policy in a bid to bring structural changes to the sector and lay down an ambitious framework for tourism growth. “It has 5 missions, which include National Green Tourism Mission, National Digital Tourism Mission, Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Mission, Destination Management, and Developing Tourism and Hospitality MSMEs. The policy is out for consultation and in around 5-6 weeks, we should be close to finalising the draft,” he said.
