Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand, Satpal Maharaj has said that comprehensive strategies of state governments will bring tourism back on track. He added, “We have worked on a two-pronged strategy in our state. On the one hand we have provided Rs200 crore relief package to respective stakeholders related to the tourism industry, and on the other hand rolled out various schemes to encourage self-employment opportunities for the local youth.”

Uttarakhand to focus on old temples, temple circuit

Satpal Maharaj, Tourism Minister, Uttarakhand, is focusing on developing ancient temples in the state and promote tourism around the same. In this regard, he conducted a meeting with the Uttarakhand Tourism Board (UTDB) to ponder over the plan and look at the possibility of developing a temple circuit for tourists. He also shared that he will be inviting filmmakers to shoot films and projects around Uttarakhand’s famous personalities.

If the hidden treasure of cuisine tourism is explored and implemented efficiently and effectively then within a very short period, the state will place itself as the culinary hub in the global map. Uttarakhand has a repository of polyherbs, spices that are known for its therapeutic use and used by the Rishis and exponents of the Ayurveda for centuries. Uttarakhand’s ‘Tourist-Incentive Coupon’ scheme to woo visitors

Uttarakhand Tourism has approved the Tourist Incentive Coupon Scheme, under which tourists opting for e-bookings for their stay in hotels and homestays, will get a rebate of Rs 1000 for a 3-day stay, revealed Satpal Maharaj, Minister of Tourism, Uttarakhand. “The tourists will be given the discount coupon while registering themselves on the government portal under tourist category. They will then be able to use the coupon during their stay in a hotel or homestay in the tourist spots of the state. The tourist will have to provide his Aadhaar card details while registering to avail the coupon and have to stay for minimum three days in the hotel or homestay. The scheme will also apply for the Char-Dham pilgrims,” said Maharaj. He also revealed that under the scheme the tourists will be given a discount of ₹1000 or 25% of the hotel charge per day, whichever is less. Source: Hindustan Times
