Clarks Collection enters Somnath

Clarks Collection makes further inroads in Gujarat by opening Clarks Collection Somnath. The brand already has a presence in Vadodara and Bhavnagar. The brand Clarks Collection is incorporated catering to business travelers, upscale tourists, and experiential seeking travelers. They are looking at geographical expansion by opening properties in Rajasthan and Gujarat. By the end of the financial year 2024, the brand will add 10 more properties to the current portfolio. They aim to expand geographically to Ajmer, Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, Ahmedabad, etc. India has recently emerged as an emerging business travel market. In the APAC region after China and Japan, India is leading in the business travel domain. According to the report, Gujarat is witnessing a steady growth in terms of travelers. The state is the most industrialized state in India, it is known as India’s chemicals and petrochemicals hub. The state has eight chemical clusters, 14 industrial estates, and three SEZs, which are primarily dedicated to the chemicals and petrochemicals industry. Oil and gas reserves are located at Ankleshwar, Mehsana, Tapti High, Hazira, Bharuch, Gandhar, Dahej, Jambusar, Palej, and Kalol. Isolated gas fields are located around Ahmedabad. Export of petroleum products from Gujarat reached US$ 17,972.08 million in FY20. The state also has over 3,300 pharmaceutical manufacturing units, which contributed 30-35% to India’s pharma sector’s turnover and around 28% to India’s pharma export during 2018-19. Pilgrimage amenities at Somnath inaugurated- virtually

Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism & Culture, along with Chief Minister of Gujarat Sh. Vijaybhai Rupanion, joined the inauguration of project ‘Development of Pilgrimage Amenities at Somnath, Gujarat’ under the PRASHAD scheme. Sanctioned under the PRASHAD scheme in March 2017, the project has been successfully completed with the cost of Rs. 45.36 crores. High quality world-class facilities for parking, tourism amenities centre and solid waste management have been developed under the project.

MOT identifies 17 attractions to be developed as Iconic Tourist Sites

The Ministry of Tourism has identified 17 sites in 12 clusters for development under Iconic Tourist Sites Development Project. The sites include Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Ajanta & Ellora, Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Colva beach, Amer Fort, Somnath, Dholavira, Khajuraho, Hampi, Mahabalipuram, Kaziranga, Kumarakom and Mahabodhi. The Ministry shall be developing the sites with focus on issues concerning connectivity to the destination, better facilities for the tourists at the site, skill development, involvement of local community, promotion & branding and by bringing in private investment. The monuments taken up for development fall under the jurisdiction of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and State Archaeology Departments. The Ministry will carry out interventions at these monuments in collaboration with the ASI and State Government, and all development plans will have elements of universal accessibility, cleanliness at the monuments, use of green technology and enhanced security for the tourists.

Sarovar Hotels & Resorts signs a new hotel in Ajmer

Sarovar Hotels has announced the signing of a new hotel in Ajmer, marking the group’s strong footprint in the state of Rajasthan. The group has signed an agreement for an 88 room hotel, Mittal Sarovar Portico in this old pilgrimage city. Owned by Mittal Dewellers, Mittal Sarovar Portico is Sarovar’s sixth hotel in the state of Rajasthan. The group has three operational hotels in Jaipur, one in Jodhpur and an upcoming hotel in Jaisalmer.
