Speaking at UP Tourism’s ‘Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude’ event, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Tourism Minister, GoI, said, “We see the Mahakumbh as an opportunity for cultural exchange.” He invited global tourists to experience world’s largest spiritual gathering, scheduled to be held from 14 January-26 February 2025 in Prayagraj.

Appreciating the response on investment and subsidies offered in Uttar Pradesh Tourism Policy 2022, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary, UP Tourism, said, “We have received a tremendous response following the implementation of our new policies. The Global Investors Summit attracted over ₹1 lakh crore in investment in the tourism sector.”

Ahead of festivals, Prakhar Mishra, Director Tourism, Uttar Pradesh, pointed out that the state is expecting a significant surge in pilgrim arrivals to Ram Lalla Temple, Kashi Vishwanath corridor, and Mathura-Vrindavan corridor. Varanasi alone saw a record-breaking influx of 95.63 lakh pilgrims in March.

UP tourism is offering substantial discounts on stamp fees for property leasing and registry. Investment of ₹500 cr in a five-star hotel will lead to rebates of upto ₹40 cr. Also, special incentives are being provided for hiring female staff and substantial number of employees.

Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary Tourism and Director General, UP Tourism, has said that Uttar Pradesh is hosting the convention after 18 years of gap. “It will boost the state’s tourism as there are many destinations to be showcased. UP is fats emerging as a popular tourist destination along with a boost in infrastructure. Thus, people will love Uttar Pradesh,” he claims.
