Oman Air announces network expansion with 4 destinations and massive frequency increases to its 2023 summer schedule

Continuing its ambitious and dynamic strategy of fleet and network expansion, Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, has unveiled its summer schedule for 2023. The schedule specifies significant frequency increases on existing routes, and the addition of four destinations—representing a 60% increase in the number of flights from its hub in Muscat compared to the previous year. This will provide the market with approximately 60,000 more seats weekly across its network and provide greater convenience and connectivity for Oman Air guests. The four additional destinations being introduced for the summer schedule are: four-weekly flights from Muscat to Chittagong (from March end); four-weekly flights from Muscat to Maldives (from June end); twelve-weekly flights from Muscat to Lucknow and five-weekly flights between Muscat and Thiruvananthapuram (from August). 1st Global Tourism Investment Summit now to be held in May 17-19, 2023 instead of April

The Tourism Ministry will organise 1st Global Tourism Invest Summit from the 17th to 19th of May this year in New Delhi to showcase opportunities in the tourism sector. The Summit was supposed to be held in April 10-12, 2023. It will deliberate on potential opportunities for investment across tourism segments including hotels and restaurants, adventure and eco-tourism, cruise and other related tourism sectors. Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy has the Government is focussing on connectivity, civic infrastructure, tourist amenities and soft infrastructure to promote and develop the tourism sector. The Minister said, with India hosting G-20 Presidency, the Government is also working with State governments, local bodies and other ministries to attract foreign tourists. Reddy said the Government is providing foreign language training to taxi drivers and tourist guides to help foreign delegates understand the rich culture of the country with ease.

Travellers from US, UK showing more interest in visiting India: Kayak report

New flight search data from KAYAK shows that flight searches over the last six months for India in 2023 have surpassed pre-pandemic levels, growing by about 29% compared to the same period in 2019. The US has long been one of India’s most prominent tourism sources, with searches for flights until the end of this year growing about 21% compared to the same pre-pandemic period. Increases in flight searches from other European countries are also very positive, with the UK having a spike in flight searches of about 48%.
