Ministry of Tourism has launched a Travel for LiFE initiative where a booklet was unveiled for the same on occasion of World Tourism Day. Speaking at the event, V Vidyavathi, Secretary, Tourism, said, “This shows our commitment towards a sustainable, resilient and inclusive tourism sector.” The event witnessed the global launch of the pathbreaking initiative and 5 TravelForLife pledges by MOS. These pledges mark a significant step towards a greener and more responsible tourism future.

Hon’ble MOS, Tourism, Ajay Bhatt, has stated that he is happy that the Ministry is taking MissionLiFE forward by developing a targeted set of actions for the tourism sector as well as tourists on the occasion of World Tourism Day. He said, “Bharat Mandapam and the recently-inaugurated IICC in Dwarka are two world-class facilities for M!CE. They are ready to host conferences from all parts of the world.”

In order to promote tourism in the state, the Travel Trade Association of Uttar Pradesh (TTAUP) conducted a one-day buyer-seller meet in Lucknow. Around 30 exhibitors participated in the show which was inaugurated by Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism & Culture, Uttar Pradesh. The seller profile included airlines, DMCs, travel insurance companies, and B2B agencies.

Zubin Saxena, Managing Director & Area Senior Vice President – South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group said, “By 2025, we aim to double our presence in the country with the addition of approximately 150 hotels and resorts. We have signed our first Radisson Collection property in Hyderabad, set to be operational by 2026. We also have 12 hotels in the pipeline across India, including cities like Raipur, Jamshedpur, Vadodara, and Chandrapur.”

Around 2000 students, staying over for at least 6 nights each, travel from India to Abu Dhabi every year, and the city is introducing exciting new attractions to boost these numbers. Accommodation has been simplified further by the Abu Dhabi government waiving off Tourism Dirhams on hotels, and having free admission for students under 18 to the most popular tourist spots in the city.

According to WTTC, Travel & Tourism is currently responsible for 8.1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. While many of the sector’s biggest companies have set 2050 emission-reduction targets, just as many have just started to consider how to address climate change in their business.

Vinod Kannan, CEO of Vistara, announced, “The airlines has launched several new routes from Mumbai, especially connecting to Middle East, aiming to align with the airline’s strategy to position Mumbai as vital hub for international travel”.     

Syed Abid Rasheed, Tourism Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, expressed his commitment to develop J&K’s Warwan into a tourism hub. Also, he made commitments to set up homestays & identify three trekking routes to attract domestic and international trekkers.
