Tourists to the UAE who stay beyond the validity of their visa will now pay a reduced fine of Dh50 per day instead of Dh100. The new system unified the amount of overstay fines to Dh50 per day for any type of visa violator. The overstay fine payment can be paid either by visiting happiness centres or online through the authority website and smart application.

More than 40 exhibitors will meet over 600 pre-registered buyers over two day at the ongoing Global Panorama Showcase in Ahmedabad that will conclude today. Sharing these numbers, Harmandeep Singh Anand, MD, GPS, says, “Apart from B2B meetings, We also had interesting  sessions on cyber security, charters, TCS , GST and partners presenting various revenue and ancillary opportunities.”

Voicing his disappointment over delayed visas, Naveen Kundu, MD (India, South East Asia & Middle East), EbixCash Travel Group, says, “It is time we stood up to the outrageous behaviour of Embassies and High Commissions. Are we beggars? Are the corporates who spend millions of dollars in their countries fools to be doing M!CE there?” He urged national travel trade bodies to take immediate action.

The Philippines Tourism recently concluded its first city in the four-city India roadshow in New Delhi. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the travel trade. The roadshow commenced with New Delhi on 7th August 2023 followed by the cities of Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. In attendance at the roadshow were 14 private players from The Philippines that includes Ark Travel Express, bai hotel Cebu, DOT Central Visayas, Dusit Hotels & Resorts, Gi Philippines, Lalaguna Villas Luxury Dive Resort and Spa, Okada Manila, Philippines Airlines, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, Scoot, Shangrila, Shroff International Travel Care, The Farm at San Benito and Uni Orient Travel. The well-attended event had the Indian travel trade conduct successful business interactions with Philippines Tourism officials. The Philippines were confidently marketed as a tourist destination, especially for its natural beauty, rich culture, and exciting activities. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation Coordination & Resource Generation, and concurrent Director for Regional office VII, says ‘’India has always been a significant ally for the Philippines, not only in terms of tourism but also due to shared values between the two countries. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Sultanate of Oman recently concluded its four-city India roadshow in Mumbai. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the travel trade. The roadshow commenced with Delhi on 24th July 2023 followed by the cities of Jaipur, Kolkata and in Mumbai. In attendance at the roadshow were 12 private players from Oman that include Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Bahwan Tourism, Crown Plaza Muscat, DusitD2 Naseem Resort and Jabal Akhdar, Kempinski Hotel, Khimji’s House of Travel, Magic Travels, Sama Travel & Tourism, Tour Oman – Travel Point and Zahara Tours. The two airlines, Oman Air, the national carrier and Salam Air, the first low-cost carrier in the region also had key representatives present including the delegation from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. The event, which saw a strong turnout, facilitated successful business interactions between the Indian travel trade and Oman Tourism officials. Agents displayed confidence in promoting Oman as a top-notch tourist destination, particularly for its natural wonders, rich culture, and thrilling adventure activities. Government of India’s e-Medical Visa and e-Medical Attendant Visa is permitting triple entry and extension up to 6 months on case to case basis on merits of each case by the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers/Foreigners Registration Officer concerned. 

ADTOI celebrated its 27th Founders Day on 7th August 2023 at the Metropolitian, New Delhi. Association was constituted on 7th August, 1996 with a purpose of uniting and merging the efforts of all domestic tour operators actively trying to promote different regions of India. PP Khanna, President, ADTOI launched the ADTOI mobile app during the occasion. The mobile app in Android and IOS have been developed, the android version is already available and the IOS will be available within a week. Ved Khanna, Treasurer, ADTOI shared the reason behind the app, “The major reason was smooth functionality as domestic tour operators complained that they did not recieve mails or was unable to communicate or get in touch with the office bearers.” At the event, the ADTOI Founder Members and the past Presidents were honoured and facilitated for their vision and contributions to building the association. Also, on the occasion, the criteria for nomination for the AKR Awards were announced. The AKR AwardS was instituted by ADTOI, in memory of Anil Kumar Rajput, the travel Industry veteran who did groundbreaking work in researching and promoting new destinations.            

According to FCM, prices of hotels in Asia have increased by an average of 26%, with Bangalore being the most expensive at $190 a night, followed by Delhi at $150 a night. Economy fares from Mumbai to Delhi have increased by 15% and business by 9%.  

According to recent research by DPI, by 2031, an estimated 50 million Indians will travel overseas. Rising personal income levels and greater accessibility will enable international travel for a greater proportion of India’s population. 

KB Kachru, Chairman Emeritus & Principal Advisor, South-Asia, Radisson Hotel Group and Vice President, Hotel Association of India, launched his book ‘ Humility and Agility: The Life of a Hotelier’, where he informed, “We will have the best Radisson hotel in the country opening in Srinagar in the next three months.”
