India’s international air passenger volumes are likely to reach 96-97 per cent of the pre-Covid levels at 329-332 million this fiscal with June traffic already at 79 per cent of the levels seen before the outbreak of the pandemic, revealed ICRA

According to Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand, Satpal Maharaj, Auli will become a year-round tourist destination. He added that a skiing village will also be developed in Auli, in addition to various activities related to adventure tourism that will also be organized in Auli throughout the year, e.g., skiing in winter, and adventure sports like trekking, hiking, and rock climbing in the other seasons. 

Ministry of Tourism launched a website named utsav.gov.in and called for the content of various events and festivals, and live darshan details of temple deities from all the States/UTs. As per the state ranking list revealed by MOT declared Maharashtra as number 1 on the portal with 10 published live darshan listings and, among the top 10 states with 8 published events and festivals’ listings.  

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) in partnership with Business Events Australia (BEA) launched a new online game to showcase the destination appeal of Sydney for incentive events. BESydney’s new ‘Experience Sydney’ game is specially designed for the India, Malaysia and Singapore market with prize vouchers up for grabs AU1,000, $500 and $250. The aim of the game is to educate BESydney’s corporate clients in South and Southeast Asia as well as travel agents, inbound operators and industry. The second phase will see the game launched in Japan and South Korea.

G Kamala Vardhana Rao, Director General, Ministry of Tourism said the government is focusing on improving the connectivity, especially in the Northeast region, since connectivity is a major problem and is impacting the tourism potential that the region has.  

The governments of West Bengal and Sikkim have signed an agreement to help tourists travel between the two neighbouring states with ease in a bid to boost tourism. The agreement will allow West Bengal-registered commercial vehicles to drop tourists at their hotels in different destinations of Sikkim.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has stated that Indian aviation is ready for a quantum leap and become the world’s third-largest aviation market by the year 2024. It said that the Indian domestic passenger traffic has soared five times in terms of year-on-year growth in 2022. Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently held a meeting to discuss ways to mitigate the rising fuel prices.
