Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO, has said that the 37th IATO Annual Convention, which was scheduled to be held in Bangalore from 15th to 18th September 2022 has been called off due to unavoidable circumstances arising out of the withdrawal of support by the Karnataka Tourism in spite of giving written confirmation for hosting the convention in Bangalore. Mehra informed that all arrangements made for the convention in Bangalore have been cancelled due to this development which are beyond our control. IATO had booked 400 rooms at Hotel Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn and the convention hall but had to release all bookings due to withdrawal of support from Karnataka Tourism in spite of announcing the same at the inaugural function of IATO 36th Annual Convention in Gandhinagar, Gujarat in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat and over 750 delegates. This development is very unfortunate which IATO never expected from Depart of Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka. The convention may now happen in December.

Travel companies from Maharashtra conducting tours within and outside the state will have to upload details of their trips and travellers on the tourism department website. These details will be shared with district disaster management teams. Supriya Karmakar, deputy director, state tourism department, said it will soon make this mandatory. “We are currently in the process of registering all tour operators online.”

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday announced that Jharkhand is set to get three more airports. He also said that 14 new air routes will be made available in the state to increase connectivity. “Jharkhand will soon have five airports. After Ranchi and Deoghar, we will set up airports in Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Dumka. Also, 14 new air routes will be introduced in the state to increase connectivity,” Scindia said.

Sachin Kurve takes charge as Secretary of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand and CEO, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. Kurve is a 2003 batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre and has held several senior key positions spanning close to two decades including key positions in the Government of Uttarakhand and Maharashtra. During his tenure, he took responsibility as the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag, Tehri-Garhwal in Dehradun, and Haridwar and as the Director and Additional Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, and also as the Additional Secretary to the Governor. In early 2015, he moved to Maharashtra on deputation wherein he held several key positions including District Collector, Revenue and Forest Department in Nagpur and Mumbai Sub Urban. Other prime positions include his role as the Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary to the Governor, and Investment Commissioner, Industries.
