Sambit Patra is the new Chairman of ITDC, G Kamala Vardhan Rao continues as MD

Sambit Patra, spokesperson for BJP, has been appointed as the chairman of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The official order states that ACC has approved the Tourism Ministry’s proposal to split the post of chairman and managing director of India Tourism Development Corporation into chairman, ITDC, and managing director (MD), ITDC. Hence G Kamala Vardhan Rao will continue as the Managing Director of ITDC.

IATA issued a statement that, “Governments are reacting in an emergency mode to the risks posed by the new coronavirus variant, causing panic among travellers. We must move as quickly as possible to a coordinated data-driven approach to find safe alternatives to border closures and quarantine, based on the lessons learned over the last two years. National Policy on tourism to be finalised soon in line with COVID norms

The much-awaited National Tourism Policy will be soon finalised and it will have the norms and provisions to suit the post COVID traveller, revealed Rupinder Brar, ADG, Tourism. “We are deliberating on how the policy is shaped in keeping with the global standards to be followed in the COVID-era.
