Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off eight new trains from various destinations to Kevadiya in Gujarat, boosting connectivity to the Statue of Unity town. These trains connect Kevadiya to Varanasi, Dadar, Ahmedabad, H. Nizamuddin, Rewa, Chennai and Pratapnagar.

To ensure that there is shared tourism vision across the centre & state, FAITH has proposed the creation of a National Tourism Council of Chief Ministers headed by the PM along with Tourism Minister. That should be supported by a common industry status across the country for the complete tourism industry by putting it in the concurrent list.

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani has announced the new tourism policy with a view to develop and augment tourism in a sustainable manner. “The New Tourism Policy has been framed keeping in mind the mission of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ so as to be ‘Vocal for Local’ thereby boosting local employment,” he said.

First flight to the newly constructed Hisar airport in Haryana from Chandigarh was flagged off today under the Regional Connectivity Scheme – UdeDeshKaAamNagrik (RCS-UDAN)  The flight was flagged off by Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana. The flagging off marks the operationalization of 54th airport under the UDAN scheme.  

The Fern Hotels & Resorts will be opening 8 new hotels in the first half of 2021 with new properties slated to open starting January 21 in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. This will take the tally to 82 hotels across 67 locations.

Passengers who wish to take part of the campaign which is valid with all ticket types of the flag carrier’s international flights*, will be able to fly at a 40 percent discount for flights between April 1 – December 31, 2021 as long as they purchase their tickets between January 13 – 15. Turkish Airlines passengers will also be able to change the dates of their campaign tickets free of charge while refunds and cancellations will be subject to the rules of the fare classes. Flights to/from Ercan Airport and Chinese Mainland (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xi’an) are not included in this campaign.

PP Khanna, President, ADTOI, has shared that 500 domestic buyers will be part of India Tourism Mart (ITM) Virtual, which will be held from February 18-20 this year. Domestic buyers will include tour operators, institutions and corporates. The participation fee for exhibitors is Rs10,000. About 500 foreign tour operators are also expected at the event.

Sharing his expectations on the impending Budget, Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Vice President, FHRAI, says, “We request Nirmala Sitharaman and Prahlad Singh Patel to bring tourism under the Concurrent List of the Constitution along with granting industry status to the hospitality sector. Lack of adequate support is impeding survival and revival efforts.”
