Tamara Leisure Experiences headquartered in Bengaluru, India has added to its German portfolio of hospitality outlets with the recent acquisition of Moxy Bremen at Uberseestadt in Bremen. This marks the 4th hotel acquisition by Tamara Leisure Experiences in Germany, strengthening its hospitality portfolio in the region. Speaking on this latest acquisition, Shruti Shibulal, Chief Executive Officer, Tamara Leisure Experiences says, “This is a proud moment for all at Tamara Leisure Experiences, especially as we close 2021, another tumultuous year for the hospitality industry. We, at Tamara, aim to strengthen our global presence and this latest acquisition in Germany marks our fourth property acquisition outside of India. The events industry in India is all set to get a new address with the latest offering from Swosti Group – Swosti Premium Beach Resorts, the first five-star premium luxury beach resort at Sipasurubuli, Puri. The property that comes equipped with facilities to host mega conferences and elaborate wedding ceremonies, boasts of large open-air landscaped lawns. The 125 luxury rooms (including 5 premium luxury long suites on the 12th Floor) offer a no-obstruction view of the sea. Luxury hospitality bounced back from the middle of second quarter of 2021, and occupancy rates gradually increased. However, overall spending on hospitality stayed below pre-pandemic levels due to continued restrictions on international travel. The market reached €79 billion, up 20 to 22 per cent at current exchange rates from 2020, but still down 58 to 62 percent from 2019. Hotel chains outpaced independents, powered by their greater adaptability to shifting consumer needs.

Puneet Chhatwal, MD & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has claimed that they are bringing out new hotels almost every day. He informs, “We just signed a contract for another Taj Wellington Mews. We signed another property in a resort in India. We are very much on track to deliver one hotel a month, which can also become 1.5 or 1.3 hotel a month, owing to the lockdown or construction bans because of pollution.”

Puneet Dhawan – Senior Vice President – Operations, Accor India & South Asia, has said that they want to focus on expanding their luxury and premium brands portfolio in India. “Also, we look forward to some of our much-awaited new openings like Novotel in New Delhi City Centre and Jodhpur, an ibis in Mumbai Thane and another in Hebbal, Bangalore,” he said.

Sejoe Jose, MD, Marvel Tours and Chairman – IATO Southern Region, has said that they have started new villas called Moksha Villas. “We have as Marvel Tours moved into the hospitality sector as well In fact, now we have several villas around Kerala, which is giving us a lot of business. Hence, 2021 made me put new hat to survive this crisis. We hope that in 2022, things start getting better for us, as well as the industry at large.”

Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), India-chapter dedicated to the incentive travel industry, has elected Barun Gupta, Director of Sales and Marketing, CrownePlaza Greater Noida, as the new President for the next one year (2022-2023). Barun will replace Nitin Sachdeva as President who has now been nominated as the SITE Global Board of Directors representing the Asia region.

Shilendra Mohanachandran, VP-Sales, CGH Earth, has shared that by 26th December, 2021, they will have a new hotel opening in Havelock on Andaman, called Tilar Siro. “It’s a 25-room hotel, which has 16 villas. Tourism remains a strong growth market in the long term. It benefits from overarching social trends that will continue to intensify in the coming years. In the financial year 2021, 5.4 million guests travelled with TUI. Booking level for the 2022 financial year are encouraging at 4.1 million bookings, revealed report. “Whenever restrictions are lifted, demand picks up immediately. Currently, customers are booking later and at short notice”, said CEO Joussen.
