India to see 7-10% YoY growth in domestic air traffic in FY25, global traffic to surge 15-20%: ICRA

Kinjal Shah, Senior Vice President, Co-Group Head, ICRA has estimated a rise in domestic air passenger traffic to 164-170 million in FY2025, reflecting year-on-year growth of 7-10 per cent, while the international passenger traffic for Indian carriers will reach 34-36 million for the full year, representing a YoY growth of 15-20 per cent.

Japan, Vietnam, and USA Lead among preferred travel destinations by Indians in Q1 2024: Mastercard Study

As per Mastercard’s annual report, in 2024, more Indians are traveling globally. In the first three months of 2024, 97 million passengers travelled, with 21% surge in domestic air traffic, and 4% in international travel. Indians are increasingly exploring key markets, with a 53% increase in visits to Japan, 248% to Vietnam, and 59% to the US, compared to 2019.

Domestic air traffic rise to 21.79% from January-July YOY: DGCA

Domestic air traffic has grown by 21.79 per cent from January-July YOY, according to a latest report by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-July 2018 were 800.40 lakhs as against 657.21 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year. The passenger load factor in the month of July has shown a declining trend compared to previous month primarily due to the end of tourist season, the report said.
