Goa partners with Yoska Event Solutions LLP to position the state as a premier destination for sports tourism. On this occasion, Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism and Managing Director, GTDC, stated, “Yoska Event Solutions brings valuable resources to the table, enabling Goa to promote sporting events.

The 4th edition of Goa International Travel Mart is all set to commence from 3-4 April at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa. It will also be held virtually from 3-9 April. Suneel Anchipaka, Director Tourism, Goa said, “GITM 2024 aims to redefine Goa’s tourism landscape by focusing on regenerative, spiritual, and hinterland tourism, setting new standards for sustainability and inclusivity. Over 250 national and int’l buyers are expected to participate in the event.”

Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister, Goa highlighted Gulf States are posing threat on Goa’s reputation. He said, “The state needs to implement dynamic & proactive measures for tourists seeking enriching and lifetime experiences”.  

The International Yoga Day coinciding with the Tourism Ministerial meeting, will be celebrated on 21 June in Goa. The ministers and delegates attending the TWG ministerial meeting will be attending a special yoga session organized by the Goa government.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that it is the responsibility of the people of Goa to take tourism area beyond ‘Sun-Sand-Sea’ concept, for which government can help in creating the infrastructure. “We can create infrastructure in remote areas, however the tourism activities will have to be created by PPP model,” Sawant said. 

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, today announced the addition of Goa, the 12th destination to join the airline’s fast-growing network. Offering two daily flights from Goa to Bengaluru, increasing to three daily flights from February 1, 2023, and two daily flights from Goa to Mumbai, this enhanced connectivity between the commercial cities and one of the country’s most popular tourism hubs, will help boost economic growth and also help increase the tourist footprint. Akasa Air, which commenced operations in August 2022, has been progressively scaling up its operations and has taken delivery of 10 aircraft, carrying over 5 lakh revenue passengers in less than six months from the start of its operations. By end-December 2022, the airline expects to cross over 500 weekly flights and has announced a total of 18 unique routes across 12 cities, namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, and Goa. Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Goa, has said that as per the state government’s projection, the tourist numbers would reach the 2019 level, touching the 81 lakh- or 8.1 million-mark. Around nine lakh international tourists and 72 lakh domestic tourists had arrived in Goa in 2019.

Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister, Goa, has said that they have started eco-tourism on a big scale. “We are moving into the hinterlands, trying to gather local communities, which will touch upon the homestay segment. Also, we are looking at wellness, adventure, as well as spiritual tourism,” he added.

Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Goa, has said that the contribution to the GDP, from the tourism sector of Goa is about 16.43 per cent. “We need to grow that and boost employment opportunities through skilling, upskilling and re-skilling. These will be our priorities in the days to come,” he claimed.

Goa Tourism Development Corporation planning road shows and exhibitions in four major cities in October and November, which will be held in Paris (France) around October 26, Zurich (Switzerland) around October 28, Frankfurt (Germany) around November 1, and Vienna (Austria) around November 3. A delegation of 75  people will include politicians, bureaucrats, representatives from travel and tour operators and other stakeholders in the tourism industry. GTDC is organising the road show and has floated a Request For Proposal (RFP) from an agency who can organise and manage the Goa Tourism side at these roadshows.
