FITUR 2024 wraps up its 44th edition with exceeded expectations, demonstrating its global influence. The official report of FITUR 2024 reveals the record-breaking participation of 9,000 companies with 152 countries, 806 main exhibitors, 9 pavilions, and 10 monographic sections for tourist segments, representing a 13.7% increase compared to 2023.

Arshdeep Anand, Director, Holiday Moods Adventures said, “Development of new destinations in India will attract more travellers but what is being forgotten is that India ranks very high on the natural heritage index. Cutting down the budget will affect among foreign travellers.”

A parliamentary panel has observed that out of the total 45 sanctioned projects under the PRASHAD scheme only 20 have been completed, noting that its progress is very slow. The committee has suggested MOT to evolve its mechanism to collect data on the arrival of foreign and domestic tourists.

Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia chaired an advisory committee meeting with airport operators, and key stakeholders to discuss transformative changes in airport interior design and technologies to expedite immigration and security check processes for international travellers. The meeting emphasized the common goal of positioning India at the forefront of air travel.

With the theme ‘The Magical Every Day’ Kerala’s pavilion experienced high numbers of visitors including business delegates at FITUR 2024 in Madrid, reinforcing its position as an enthralling destination for Spanish travel market. Kerala has recorded 18,947 arrivals in 2019 from Spain claiming it to be a pivotal market for the state in future.

MOT participated at FITUR in Spain with 40 + Indian co-exhibitors with a vision to promote India globally. India has recorded the arrival of 64,756 foreign tourists from Spain in 2023, which signifies that Spain is one of the important source markets for India.

Trevolution reported a growth in demand for trans-Pacific flights highlighting 22 per cent increase in India’s inbound tourism compared to pre-pandemic time. Another key highlight was a 179 per cent increase in outbound travel from India boosting job opportunities in the industry.

As per HVS Anarock, in line with the season, Goa regained its spot at the top with the highest average rates (surpassing ₹12,000) followed closely by Mumbai (also exceeding ₹12,000). Kolkata saw a substantial 30% spike in its average rates from the previous month and a 23% increase compared to November 2022.

Bali provisional govt introduces tourism tax system from all international arrivals  with effect from 14 February 2024. The compulsory levy will see all international tourists pay IDR 150,000 (US $10). The authorities claim that payment process will take only 23 seconds at Bali Airport.
