India to see 7-10% YoY growth in domestic air traffic in FY25, global traffic to surge 15-20%: ICRA

Kinjal Shah, Senior Vice President, Co-Group Head, ICRA has estimated a rise in domestic air passenger traffic to 164-170 million in FY2025, reflecting year-on-year growth of 7-10 per cent, while the international passenger traffic for Indian carriers will reach 34-36 million for the full year, representing a YoY growth of 15-20 per cent.

Indian airlines to capture nearly 50% of international passenger traffic by FY2028, predicts CRISIL

In a key development, CRISIL Ratings report revealed that Indian airlines are set to capture nearly 50 per cent of international passenger traffic by FY28 from 43 per cent in FY24. Along with that, the growth in domestic traffic is expected at 10-11 per cent over the same period.  India’s international passenger traffic grew to around 70 million in FY24, from 10 million in FY21.

International passenger traffic likely to reach up to 85% of pre-Covid levels in 2023

According to a report by ICRA, international traffic is expected to reach 80-85% of the pre-Covid level in FY2023 as against earlier estimates of 70-75%. The major destinations driving the international traffic demand are Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Further, the domestic air travel is expected to recover back to pre-Covid levels in FY2023 and the international traffic in FY2024.
