“If you wish to explore India, come to Mahakumbh”: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at ‘Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude event in New Delhi

To provide a glimpse into the spiritual essence of Prayagraj, the host city for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, Uttar Pradesh Tourism has organised a ‘Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude’ in New Delhi. Scheduled to be held from 14 January to 26 February 2025 in Prayagraj, the event is expected to draw over 40 crore devotees from across the globe. The event was graced by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh and dignitaries from various ministries, ambassadors, and high commissioners from several countries, along with senior officials from the central and state governments. Addressing the event, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Tourism Minister, Govt of India, said, “We see the Mahakumbh as an opportunity for cultural exchange.” He invited global tourists to experience the world’s largest spiritual gathering by saying “If you wish to explore India, come to Mahakumbh.” Highlighting the festival’s inclusivity and diverse offerings, Jaiveer Singh, Tourism Minister, Uttar Pradesh, said, “We aim to offer something for everyone at Mahakumbh 2025, whether it’s heritage walks, water sports, or helicopter rides.” The event’s primary objective was to highlight the cultural, spiritual, and infrastructural preparations underway for this iconic gathering.

’48 crore tourists visited UP in 2022 & 2023, thanks to improved law & order situation’: State Tourism Minister

Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism & Culture, UP, said, “Uttar Pradesh has an immense potential for tourism, particularly spiritual tourism. Our government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime has improved the law and order situation of the state that led to the surge of 48 crore footfalls in UP in 2022 and 2023, a number double the population of the state.”

Saryu Mahotsav to raise awareness for conservation of rivers, water resources, and natural heritage

Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated the Saryu Mahotsav in Ayodhya at Ram ki Paidi today. The Tourism and Culture Minister said that, “the aim of the festival is to raise public awareness about the conservation of water, forests, and land while promoting our harmonious coexistence with nature.” He also highlighted the adverse impacts of increasing urbanization and industrialization on the environment. Rivers are drying up and traditional water sources such as ponds, tanks, and wells are getting depleted of water levels. He also stressed the urgent need for prudent use of water resources and the protection of forests to ensure a healthy environment and sufficient natural resources for future generations. Growing issues of global warming, climate change, and ecological imbalance due to increased human interference are posing a significant threat to nature and its resources. He remarked that rivers are lifelines; great civilizations have thrived along their banks. To rejuvenate these vital water bodies, collective awareness and efforts are necessary. In maintaining a balance with nature, it is imperative to save rivers, ponds, and natural water sources. The Saryu Mahotsava is being organized to foster public awareness about the importance of preserving our natural heritage. Nature is essential for human survival. Therefore, it is crucial to keep our rivers, forests, land, and natural water sources alive. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in order to create awareness about the same is inviting people to take part in this Mahotsava.
