Sunaina Mehta, Joint director, Tourism, J&K, has said that, “We are looking forward that more investments take place as we are in the process of  outsourcing the assets and we look forward that better players come forward for PPP, so that some better avenues are also generated for earning livelihood for the youth of J&K and at the same time explore the potential at various destinations.”

This year, approximately 19000 foreign tourists visited Kashmir out of over 22 lakh tourists. Tourism Director Fazal Al-Huseeb said that hotels were fully booked by tourists at tourist spots in Kashmir including Gulmarg during New Year. “We expect record tourist arrivals in 2023,” he said.  

Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary, Tourism, J&K, has said that they are celebrating different occasions and festivals, like spring festival and early almond blossom festival. “In spring, i.e. March and April we have tulip festival. There are many summer festivals, winter carnivals and we have a houseboat festival. Such events help us convey a message that things are happening in J&K,” he added.

Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, launched the Tourism Department’s integrated web platform on Tuesday, which will give a one-stop solution for tourists and visitors, as well as online booking. The portal will provide information about tourism in J&K, as well as associated enterprises such as Tourism Development Authorities, J&K Cable Car Corporation, golf courses, and so on.

FHRAI has signed MoU with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) to promote hospitality and related infrastructure in the Union Territory. Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Vice President represented the hospitality industry at the event and signed the joint MoU for FHRAI at the Real Estate Summit 2021. Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs graced the event.
