FHRAI urges Scindia to remove online Air Suvidha form mandate

FHRAI has submitted a representation to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, highlighting problems faced by inbound tourists with filling the online Air Suvidha form and has requested for its immediate withdrawal. With several passengers having missed their flights to India, the Association has appealed for the Ministry to at least provision physical forms as an alternate to the online forms.

Scindia running campaign to reduce VAT on ATF, meeting CMs of 22 states

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, shares that he is running strong campaign with the Chief Ministers of all states for reduction of VAT on ATF. “I am approaching every CM sequentially and asking them to lower the VAT on ATF. There are 11 state governments, which charge between 1-5% and around 27 state governments charge between 5-30%. My target is to get as many states to charge between 1-5% VAT on ATF, so that there is increased penetration in terms of connectivity,” he said in Kushinagar.

Uttar Pradesh will have 17 new airports in the coming years: Jyotiaditya Scindia

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, has said that Kushinagar Airport has been built at a cost of over Rs 260 crores and there will be 17 airports in Uttar Pradesh in the coming years. In UP, 8 airports are already functional before Kushinagar airport. Work is on Jewar International Airport after Lucknow, Varanasi and Kushinagar. Apart from that, airport projects are going on in Ayodhya, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad and Shravasti.

Air traffic reached its highest level on Sunday: Scindia 

Since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic last year domestic air traffic reached its highest level on Sunday, said Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. A total of 3,27,923 passengers travelled on 2,372 flights within India on Sunday, he noted. Before the pandemic struck, India’s daily domestic air traffic was approximately 4.25 lakh passengers. The Centre had suspended all scheduled domestic flights from March 25, 2020, to May 25, 2020, as part of the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Heli-hub to be developed in Gurugram, ATF in Haryana to reduce from 20% to 1%: Scindia

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister, Civil Aviation, met Manohar Lal Khattar, CM, Haryana, recently and discussed many aviation related issues. After the meeting Scindia revealed that a heli-hub would be developed in Gurugram. Khattar further announced that the Haryana government has decided to reduce value added tax (VAT) rate on sale of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to 1% from 20%.

Responsibility for refunds doesn’t just lie on agents, but on airlines too: Scindia 

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, has said that they will be launching the Airsewa 3.0 portal under which they are deciding on the process of grievance escalation in airline companies as well, so that higher officers can close those grievances. Also, in terms of refunds, he said, “Getting refunds for passengers is not just the responsibility of the travel agents, but even the airlines will be responsible for closing the refunds.”

Scindia asks Railway Minister for Delhi-Agra-Gwalior train

Jyotiraditya Scindia has written to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, to start a Delhi-Agra-Gwalior train service under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to start 75 Vande Mataram trains within a year to commemorate 75th year of Indian Independence. Scindia chairs first meeting of advisory group to deliberate on issues faced by airline industry

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Cabinet Minister for Civil Aviation, chaired the first discussion of the advisory group on airport operators as well as airlines to deliberate on issues and the way forward for the sector. Early last week, the Minister had announced three advisory groups to work out such matters and help solve challenges that the civil aviation sector of India faces.
