Austria witnesses 8.6 per cent growth in Indian arrivals in 2018

Strengthening its presence in the Indian market, Austria has registered 8.6 per cent growth in the number of tourists from India in 2018. The central European country welcomed 192,000 visitors in 2018. The Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) is looking to focus on families this year. Addressing a press conference at Le Meridien, Delhi, Christine Mukherjee said that 40 million tourists from over the world travel to Austria every year. “India is very a crucial market for us. I am happy to inform that overnight stays by Indian travellers has doubled over last one year.” ANTO organised a three-city workshop in India which started in Mumbai, followed by Ahmedabad and concluded in Delhi. According to Mukherjee, 140 tour operators attended the workshop in Mumbai, while over 100 and 110 agents turned up for the workshop in Ahmedabad and Delhi, respectively. Industry partners and representatives from Vienna, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Swarovski Crystal World also attended the workshops and showcased their products to the travel trade. IATO gears up for 34th Annual Convention in Vizag

In an aim to update its members about the 34th Annual Convention set to be held from September 6-9, 2018, IATO recently hosted a luncheon meet at Le Meridien, New Delhi. The association felicitated Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretary Tourism, Andhra Pradesh and Himanshu Shukla, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority. Convention Chairman Rajeev Mehra said, “We are getting close to our desired goal in meeting the required number of professionals of the trade from various parts of the country to make our 34th Annual Convention successful.” With the utmost support of Andhra Pradesh Tourism, IATO is confident of its convention. Meena, while addressing the members, said, “We are excited to be the hosts for IATO convention as we’ve been looking forward to it since 2016. We will also be hosting post tours for the delegation of about 200 or more.”

GPS kick-starts in Kochi with over 700 registrations

The Global Panaroma Showcase (GPS) in Kochi opened with over 700 registrations on the inaugural day at Le Meridien, Kochi. The guest for honour for the event was Ashwin Guna Sekeran, Chief Executive Officer, Penang Convention & Exhibitons Bureau. The show was inaugrated by Anish Kumar PK, President, Association of Tourism Trade Organisations India (ATTOI); Ross Masood, Chaiman, TAAI Kerala Chapter; Balu Abraham Varughese, Manager, Central & South Kerala, Oman Air, among others. The day concluded with insightful knowledge sessions by various exhibitors.

Focus on destination weddings

The maiden edition of Travel Wedding Show took off in full swing at Le Meridien, Gurgaon on Saturday, July 9. A total of 26 buyers and 28 exhibitors participated in the inaugural day of the B2B event where appointments took place in round robin format. The first day held emphasis on wedding planners and event management companies while the exhibitors were representatives from different hotels and resorts, and DMCs. “There have been events focussing on either weddings or travel, but never together. Travel Wedding Show aims to bring a select group of  people together and facilitate business for the growth of the industry,” shared Sarika Bhambani Rawal, General Manager, Travel Wedding Show.

HRANI Conclave in Delhi on Feb 27

The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI) is organising a Conclave on February 27, 2016 at Le Meridien, New Delhi. The theme of the conclave is “Hospitality & Tourism- Gateway to Growth”.  The HRANI Conclave will be a one-day event that aims to highlight the issues and aspirations of tourism and hospitality sector. This conclave will be a quarterly feature for the association and will be conducted in its nine member states on a rotational basis. Delhi Tourism will also launch ‘Brand Delhi’ Campaign in 2016 with a vision of encouraging tourism and increasing tourists inflow in the state. With HRANI shared aspiration of making Delhi, a top destination of choice, for both foreign and domestic tourists, the organisation is privileged to announce endorsement of Delhi Tourism Ministry towards the HRANI Conclave.
