Malaysia records 80.2% rise in Indian visitors from January to April 2024: Manoharan Periasamy, DG, Tourism Malaysia

Being one of the major source markets for Malaysia, India has contributed significantly to the country’s tourism landscape. “Malaysia has witnessed 80.2 per cent rise in Indian visitors with 2.96 lakh arrivals from January to April in 2024 compared to the same period last year,” said Manoharan Periasamy, DG, Tourism Malaysia.

Malaysia aims 35.6 mn foreign tourist arrivals & RM147.1 bn spending during Visit Malaysia Year 2026: Manoharan Periasamy

“Malaysia will host Visit Malaysia Year in 2026 with a target of 35.6 million foreign tourist and RM147.1 billion in expenditures,” revealed Manoharan Periasamy, Director General, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, during the announcement of the expansion of strategic destination marketing collaboration between Travelport and Tourism Malaysia.

Tourism Malaysia first of its six roadshows planed in major cities of India from 18-30 April

Tourism Malaysia has kicked off its first roadshow to six major cities in India from 18th until 30th April 2022, after more than two years of hiatus. The roadshows are in line with Malaysia lifting sanctions on its border on 1st April 2022. Starting in Delhi, the roadshow kicks off in the city of Delhi, followed by Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. The mission is headed by Manoharan Periasamy, Senior Director of the International Promotion Division (Asia & Africa) together with Malaysia’s tourism fraternity which consists of three (3) Malaysia-based airlines, 22 travel agents, four (4) hoteliers, and four (4) product owners.

Malaysia ready to welcome tourists from April 1; 90% population vaccinated

Manoharan Periasamy, Senior Director, International Promotion Division (Asia & Africa), Tourism Malaysia, speaking at the 4th edition of Gulf Travel Show has said that they are looking at confidence building as they are now ready to welcome back tourists as they are opening the borders from 1stApril, 2022. He also revealed that 90% of their population has been fully vaccinated and have even got the booster dose.
