NYC & Company has unveiled its refreshed digital-first global tourism campaign “Famous Original New York City” to reach travellers around the world, celebrating the personal ways NYC can be experienced. Original in-house creative—along with supporting video, photo galleries, editorial and social content—is pegged to distinct newly curated travel “affinities”. Fred Dixon, President and CEO, NYC & Company, said, “Our refreshed campaign ‘Famous Original New York City’—with its affirming tag line ‘Welcomes You. Always.’—is designed to reinforce New York City’s fundamental values of diversity and inclusion and its world-class welcoming spirit. Utilising our new digital tools and affinity-driven content, we invite global visitors to discover their ‘Famous Original New York City’ now.” Digital, in-kind and partner media contribute to an approximate campaign value of $15 million, with promotions running globally across 17 countries through summer 2019. Out-of-home advertisements will appear domestically in New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and San Juan. Internationally, the campaign will appear in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. With our out-of-home media partner JC Decaux, the promotions will run for the first-time in Colombia, India and Peru. In partnership with Facebook and Instagram, the campaign will utilise content marketing that has been developed to attract members with specific interests and behaviours. Artificial intelligence will target social media users with an intent to travel, ultimately encouraging visits to the campaign landing page, where dynamically-generated content—pegged to the travel affinity of interest—will live, along with market-specific travel offers. NYC & Company holds several tourism alliances domestically and internationally. These strategic city-to-city partnerships spotlight New York Cityvia in-kind media in Toronto, Canada; Madrid, Spain; and Tokyo, Japan.

The official destination marketing organisation for the five boroughs of New York City – NYC & Company – recently invited a select group of travel agents in Mumbai for an evening of cocktails and meet Makiko Matsuda Healy, Managing Director (Tourism Market Development), NYC & Company who was in the city for a quick visit. The evening also involved a quick run through of some of the new tourism projects that are taking shape in New York, particularly the new hotels that have come up, new attractions, and the airport that is getting an upgrade. Making this short presentation was Christopher Heywood, Senior Vice President, Global Communications, NYC & Company, who also took questions from the agents. There were about nine agents from eight agencies who focus on leisure FIT and group holidays to North America.

To continue welcoming record visitation and boost winter travel in 2017, NYC & Company has unveiled a new ‘Nonstop NYC’ program comprising its popular NYC Restaurant Week (Jan. 23-Feb.10), NYC Broadway Week (Jan. 17-Feb. 5) and NYC Off-Broadway Week (Feb. 27-Mar. 12). On the heels of the success of these programs, NYC & Company is proud to announce the first-ever NYC Attractions Week. The organisation is also expanding its ‘See Your City’, ‘See it for Yourself’ and Official NYC Family Ambassador campaigns to further encourage travel in 2017. The City welcomed an all-time record 60.3 million visitors by 2016 end, surpassing the 60 million visitor milestone for the first time ever. Fred Dixon, NYC & Company’s President and CEO, said, “We are proud to exceed our forecast this year and welcome an all-time record 60.3 million visitors, achieving a new tourism milestone for New York City. The appeal of the ‘New’ New York alongside our classic attractions continue to draw travelers from every corner of the globe. We invite visitors and locals to take advantage of all the nonstop and affordable NYC experiences on offer this winter as well as the opportunities to discover our City’s multicultural neighborhoods in all five boroughs.” This year, travelers from international markets will comprise an estimated 12.65 million international visitors, which is an all-time high. Among all visitors, meetings delegates will comprise 6.15 million people. In 2017, NYC & Company is forecasting the City will welcome approximately 61.8 million visitors with 13.1 million international visitors. To capitalise on the growing family travel segment, NYC & Company will continue into 2017 its Official NYC Family Ambassador program featuring Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
