Kapil Chopra has stepped down as the President of The Oberoi Group. He began his journey with the group in 1994 as a Management trainee with OCLD. Chopra has run the group efficiently and has always been admired by his peers and colleagues. He will be leaving a legacy behind as he has run the group successfully for more than two decades. It is believed that Chopra will be starting his own venture post his stint with The Oberoi Group.

Global Hospitality Conclave (GHC) 2017 will be held on January 7, 2017, at The Leela Ambience Gurgaon. The conclave, an independent initiative by the alumni of the erstwhile Oberoi School of Hotel Management (OSHM), now The Oberoi Centre for Learning & Development (OCLD), brings together a host of industry leaders to discuss the trends and developments in the hospitality industry. With the world of hospitality imperatively moving toward an era of extensive collaboration and partnerships, rules of the game are being rewritten every day. The Conclave seeks to touch upon trends and opportunities in the hospitality landscape of the country and the world, as well as, discuss priorities to arrive at all potential gateways and drivers of growth in the coming years. Organised annually, the Global Hospitality Conclave sees participants from across the world who have been part of The Oberoi Group in a leadership position. The objective of the Conclave is to get the Oberoi Hotels alumni together annually, who are presently employed in different sectors across the world such as banking, aviation, universities etc, and go beyond the customary batch reunions by creating a compelling platform of knowledge exchange, experiences and networking opportunities. GHC is open exclusively to all who have either graduated from OSHM/OCLD upto the year 2007 or have worked with the Oberoi Hotels in senior management for 10 years or more and is therefore a select club of top hospitality professionals.

Around 120 delegates made the 3rd Global Hospitality Conclave 2016 (GHC) a full house. Delegates not only reminisced fond memories of Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development (OCLD) days, but met up with old friends as well. Different sessions deliberated new ideas to better hospitality in India. Ajay Bakaya, Chairman, Organising Committee, GHC, 2016 said, “It’s an Oberoi alumni event, which started in 2014, and has grown in size and stature in last three years. We have people who are going to come in from all over the world. Wine expert from Toronto, Financial expert from US, we have a professor from Cornell in the USA. Also, there are people who have come in from Kenya and Uganda, and are handling hotels in these regions. It’s a great gathering of people who have graduated from OCLD. The first batch graduated in 1966. It is now 50 years of graduated batches. In fact OCLD is celebrating fifty years this year. It’s a wonderful event, for us it’s a great event to interact with people who were our superiors, our peers or our subordinates. All come together to exchange ideas, camaraderie, exchange bon-homie.”. The conclave saw three panel discussions. The discussion on ‘Competing on Analytics: The Power of Big Data’ conducted by Chekitan S. Dev, was very well received.
