Dispelling untruths about tourism in Goa in recent times, Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Govt of Goa said, “The last week of December 2024 saw 200 daily fights. There was 21 per cent growth in tourist arrivals in 2024 over last year. Foreign tourist arrivals into Goa have shown a 3 per cent increase in 2024.”

Highlighting the importance of tourism in boosting Goa’s economy, Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister, Goa, said, “Tourism is the heart of Goa’s economy, supporting numerous livelihoods and providing opportunities for our people. This season has been remarkable, with 4 and 5-star hotels nearly at full capacity, showcasing Goa as a top destination for high-spending travellers and charters from established and emerging markets”.

Rohan Khaunte, Minister, Goa Tourism, met with Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Tourism Minister, Govt of India, to discuss improving international connectivity and expediting the PRASHAD scheme for the Basilica of Bom Jesus. He emphasised the need for more direct international flights and robust support from the Centre to enhance Goa’s tourism infrastructure and promotional efforts to attract more foreign visitors.

Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister, Goa, said, “The state is looking forward to tap new and emerging markets by participating in global trade fairs. During Covid-19, the international footfall in Goa was only 33,000, which has now increased to 4.5 lakh this year.” In the last four years, Goa has spent ₹63 crore to promote the state within the country.

Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Goa, assured that the number of visitors to Goa has surged in the just-concluded tourist season touching the one crore mark. There has also been a rise in the number of international tourists, which is 150 per cent above pre-COVID figures. Goa continues to see the arrival of tourists in monsoon season as well.

Recently, Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, said that to boost the tourist numbers, “we are endeavouring to showcase Goa’s myriad offerings to foster a deeper understanding of the state’s cultural and natural wealth apart from coastline through green investments, and Goa beyond beaches.”

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has launched India’s first regenerative tourism model in the state. He said, “Goa has a rich cultural heritage including some temples known as South Kashi, and 11 spiritual sites in the coastal state would be promoted under the Ekadasha Teertha scheme.”

Rohan Khaunte, Goa’s Minister of Tourism, speaking at an event, shared that with a focus on the travel industry, Goa is exploring circuit tourism within the state, similar to the concept of the Golden Triangle.

Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Goa, has said that as per the state government’s projection, the tourist numbers would reach the 2019 level, touching the 81 lakh- or 8.1 million-mark. Around nine lakh international tourists and 72 lakh domestic tourists had arrived in Goa in 2019.

Rohan Khaunte, Tourism Minister, Goa, has said that they have started eco-tourism on a big scale. “We are moving into the hinterlands, trying to gather local communities, which will touch upon the homestay segment. Also, we are looking at wellness, adventure, as well as spiritual tourism,” he added.
