Travel and transportation services combined are likely to account for 21% of India’s total services exports in Financial Year 2022-23, compared to around 15% in the first half of 2021-22 and 2020-21, when the pandemic struck, according to SEPC. In pre-pandemic 2019-20, travel and transportation services made up nearly 23% of services exports of $213 billion.

Abhay Sinha, Director General, Service Export Promotion Council (SEPC), has said that it is highly unlikely that Government will continue with SEIS in the current format anymore. “However, SEPC will continue to urge for an alternative incentive scheme to help the tour operators get back to their pre-COVID levels.”
