Experience wonders of Oman’s marine treasure at Ras Hanani

Want to try snorkelling or diving? Ras Hanani is the place for you. Also known as Eagle Bay, Ras Hanani and the surrounding coastline is one of the best locations for snorkelling and diving in Dhofar and is also close to Salalah. This rocky inlet is seven kilometres southeast of Mirbat; the road becomes a bumpy track, ending at a soft, sandy beach only suitable for four-wheel drive vehicles. Lucky visitors catch glimpses of immense shoals of fish swirling just under the surface while colourful fish dart to and fro over the coral below and the occasional flat fish burrows in the sand beneath. Watch out for manta rays flapping by and monster-like moray eels hidden in the crevices between the rocks and coral. Ras Hanani is a great spot for camping and the sunsets are stunning, you will be left wondering why the crabs have left this idyllic spot, with only pyramid-like sand mounds evidence that there was ever any other being there. There are no facilities as Ras Hanani so bring everything you need with you including plenty of water and an umbrella for shade if you intend to stay a while. Campers will be delighted to know that for those who do not want to cook, there is a restaurant in Mirbat which will deliver your food and soft drinks order to your tent.
