Hyderabad–Jabalpur daily on SpiceJet from Dec 23

SpiceJet will commence its daily direct flight on the Hyderabad–Jabalpur route from December 23, 2016. Hyderabad is the third metro after Delhi and Mumbai that SpiceJet will be serving a daily direct flight connecting Jabalpur. The fares for the Hyderabad-Jabalpur route will start from Rs 3,613 whereas for Jabalpur – Hyderabad route it will start from Rs 3073. Bookings for the routes are currently open.

SpiceJet leads PLF in Oct with 91.9%

Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Oct, 2016, were 813.70 lakhs as against 660.60 lakhs during the corresponding period of 2015, thereby registering a growth of 23.18 per cent, according to a DGCA report. SpiceJet recorded the highest PLF of 91.9 per cent amongst all other domestic airlines. The passenger load factor (PLF) in October this year almost remained constant compared to previous month primarily due to the end of tourist season, while the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of Oct 2016 has been 0.72 per cent. In terms of On Time Performance (OTP), SpiceJet again came out a winner with an average OTP of 86.1 per cent, as against Vistara (83.6 per cent) and IndiGo (81.2 per cent).

Domestic airlines show 23% growth during Jan-Sept

According to the latest data released by DGCA, passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Sept 2016 were 726.98 lakhs as against 590.21 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year, registering a growth of 23.17 per cent. SpiceJet showed the highest Passenger Load Factor (PLF) at 93.2 per cent. The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of Sept 2016 has been 0.42 %. Vistara came out the winner when it came to On Time Performance, with a success rate of 89.6 per cent.

SpiceJet to start 8 new flights from Nov 15

SpiceJet has announced new additional flights for this winter with effect from November 15, 2016. The airline has inducted three Boeing 737-800s to operate the eight new flights and eight new connections. With the introduction of the new and additional flights, the airline will operate 334 flights a day. With ‘regional connectivity’ as the macro theme, SpiceJet has been rendering constant focus on the agenda while undertaking network expansions and has most recently introduced three new flights to Northeast. The new schedule also focuses on connecting the key metros with special emphasis on Bengaluru and Hyderabad catering to the seasonal demand. The airline has also increased its frequency for Ahmedabad to key metros besides Goa. Shilpa Bhatia, Sr. VP, Commercial, SpiceJet, says, “Our new winter schedule strikes the right balance with equal emphasis on metro and non-metro connectivity. The induction of three new aircraft will cater to the enhanced seasonal demand while offering flexibility to customers with more flight options to choose from. SpiceJet to fly daily Delhi–Jodhpur

SpiceJet will start its direct flight between Delhi and Jodhpur from October 30, 2016. In Rajasthan, SpiceJet is already operating daily flights to Jaipur and Udaipur. Shilpa Bhatia, Sr. VP, Commercial, SpiceJet, said, “Regional connectivity has always played an important role in strengthening our network strategy. In our endeavour to continuously reach out to underserved destinations we are excited to initiate our services to Jodhpur. The new flight will present passengers with more travel options especially during the peak season.” Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination and with introduction of this flight it will be connected with Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata.

SpiceJet’s Silchar, Gorakhpur and Aizawl flights from Oct 4

Starting  October 4, SpiceJet to add new markets like Silchar, Gorakhpur and Aizawl and will operate new flights on routes like Kolkata-Silchar-Guwahati; Kolkata-Aizawl-Guwahati and Kolkata-Gorakhpur-Delhi. Kolkata-Visakhapatnam-Kolkata flights will also start from November 1. To celebrate the launch of the new routes, SpiceJet is offering tickets at an all inclusive introductory fares of – Rs. 2127 for the Kolkaka-Aizawl and Rs. 1899 for the Aizawl-Guwahati sectors; Rs. 3699 for the Kolkata-Silchar and Rs. 4188 for Silchar-Guwahati sectors; Rs. 3210 for the Kolkata-Gorakhpur and Rs. 3335 for Gorakhpur-Delhi sectors. The new schedule will also include additional frequencies with a direct flight on its existing routes of Kolkata-Bagdogra and Kolkata-Guwahati. Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister, Assam thanked SpiceJet for enhancing its air frequency to Assam and other North Eastern States by starting new daily flight sorties connecting North East with other parts of the country. Shilpa Bhatia, Sr. VP, Commercial, SpiceJet, said, “Enhancing the country’s regional connectivity has always been a prime focus for SpiceJet. And with the new aviation policy in place, there is an added encouragement to enter the underserved markets.” SpiceJet intends to add the untapped markets in its domestic network and thereby, enhance regional connectivity. SpiceJet records highest passenger load factor at 92%

SpiceJet continues to record highest passenger load factor (PLF) among Indian carriers with 92 per cent for the month of July 2016, according to statistics released by Ministry of Civil Aviation. SpiceJet has achieved above 90 per cent PLF for 15 successive months. The airline’s On-time Performance (OTP) for the month of July 2016 was recorded at 79.2 per cent, second only to Vistara with 80.30 per cent. OTP has been computed for its operations across the four metro airports of Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. SpiceJet operated 298 daily flights and carried 9.94 lakh passengers during the month thereby registering a market share of 11.7 per cent. Flight cancellations have also declined steadily over the past few months for the airline, with the cancellation rate for July 2016 being just 0.28 per cent. The total passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Jul 2016 were 560.87 lakhs as against 455.95 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering a growth of 23.01 per cent.

Air India and SpiceJet join hands for aircraft maintenance

Air India and SpiceJet have signed an MOU under which Air India will provide support to SpiceJet on maintenance of their B-737 aircraft and landing gear replacement at AIESL’s MRO facility at Nagpur. This will mean additional revenue for Air India while it will also enable SpiceJet to not only avail AI’s state of the art facilities and engineering expertise but also can save money and extra miles. Arun Kashyap, VP engineering and maintenance, SpiceJet said that SpiceJet will save nearly 25 per cent of total maintenance cost. H.R. Jagannathan, CEO, AIESL said that Air India is always ready to be a part of the Make in India programme. Air India has world class MRO facilities and any one can use the state of the art facilities. SpiceJet’s first Hajj 2016 flight takes off from Gaya

SpiceJet flagged off its first flight from Gaya to Mecca for the Hajj 2016 season. The Airbus320 which departed on its schedule time of 11.30 AM from the Gaya airport carried 135 passengers onboard. The flight was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, Minister of Minority Affairs, Government of Bihar, Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate, Gaya, Dilip Kumar, Airport Director, Gaya Airport and Sumant Rautela Head of Ground Services, SpiceJet along with of the Hajj Committee members. The airline will carry more than 8000 pilgrims on special flights for the annual Islamic pilgrimage Hajj in Mecca from Gaya and Indore. G.P. Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer and Accountable Manager, SpiceJet, said, “Hajj is a lifetime experience and SpiceJet will make every effort to ensure a hassle-free and delightful travel experience for all its passengers by delivering high on on-time performance and critical etiquettes ensuring absolute passenger satisfaction. We are grateful for being made a part of this humane operation and wish all our pilgrim passengers a wonderful stay at Mecca this year.” The airline has deployed two Airbus320 to ferry pilgrims from Gaya and Indore respectively. The flights will be operated from the two Indian cities to Jeddah and Madina between August 4 and September 3, 2016. The return journey for the pilgrims back to Gaya is scheduled from September 21 and to Indore from October 1. The whole activity is expected to be executed by October 20, 2016.
