TAFI to hold next convention within India, specific destination to be decided soon

Sharing some initial plans for the association’s annual convention, Ajay Prakash, President, TAFI, reveals that this year, the team is looking at hosting it within India. He says, “We are talking to various state governments on the possibility of holding our convention within India next year. We would like to do a convention or a conclave or a congress in India which TAFI has not done. It is important that with the entire Dekho Apna Desh campaign, I think it is necessary for our members to explore newer destinations within India. We are talking to states to see where we can get some assistance. Hopefully, we should be able to plan something in India.”

TAFI to push for authentic industry data to make a stronger case for tourism to govt

At an event in Mumbai, Ajay Prakash, President, TAFI, highlighted the need to have credible data as an industry. “We need to collate information like pre-pandemic business figures, employee numbers, etc so that we have some authenticated data right until the decline started. We then need to get a professional agency to conduct a comprehensive survey. This will put us in a strong position when we make our representation to the government and show them what this industry is worth.”

UAE authorities recognise & approve Indian vaccines Covishield and Covaxin for travellers

UAE authorities recognised and approved vaccinations done in India. Anil Punjabi, Chairman (East), Travel Agents’ Federation of India (TAFI) has revealed, “UAE’s National Emergency & Crisis Management Authority has informed that passengers who have taken both doses of either Covishield or Covaxin in India to fly back if they have residency permits. The only requirement is that they should have completed the vaccination at least 14 days prior to travel.” Adding that the move will help hundreds of people who were stranded in India since March.

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) will finally hold its much-delayed national elections on July 24, 2021 via e-voting conducted on the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) platform. The following nine posts are open for election: President, Vice President, National General Secretary, Treasurer and five posts for Managing Committee Members.

TK Jose re-elected as Chairman for Madhya Pradesh Chapter of TAFI

TK Jose, CEO of Jose Travels, has been re-elected as Chairman for the Madhya Pradesh chapter of TAFI for the term 2021-2023. The election was conducted through an electronic voting process owing to the pandemic. “We will collectively work for the betterment of our chapter and will take up various issues faced by our travel fraternity with the concerned department or airline,” Jose said.

TAFI national elections postponed indefinitely; MP chapter faces hurdle

TAFI’s national elections have been indefinitely postponed as its MP Chapter is yet to conduct its elections. Pradip Lulla, Acting President and VP, TAFI, says, “The MP chapter election has been delayed. It was to be held on Feb 3, however, now the matter is sub judice and the person who was disqualified has gone to court. The court hearing for is on Feb 25 in Indore.”

TAFI Gujarat Chapter announces Manish Sharma as Chairman for new term

Continuing with its chapter elections, the Travel Agents Federation Of India (TAFI) Gujarat Chapter has announced its new team for the term 2021 – 2023. Manish Sharma has been elected as the Chairman, Ankit Bajaj as the Secretary and Sohel Kadri as the Treasurer. The new team came onboard unopposed and was announced at an event in Gandhinagar on January 12, 2021. Jigar Dudakiya was the immediate past Chairman for the chapter.

TAFI Western India team returns for new term unopposed

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) Western India Chapter has announced that its current team has returned to office unopposed. Jitul Mehta is the Chapter Chairman, Burjis Mehta as the Secretary, and Jay Kantawala as the Treasurer. The team will take over office for the two-year term starting January 2021. Jitul Mehta says, “The work that we started in our previous term will continue with more vigour and determination now with a focus on getting the industry back on its feet.”
