Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) showcased Taiwan’s potential for Incentives at ITB INDIA 2024, under the theme “Explore Taiwan, Explore New Asia.” This participation marks a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between Taiwan and India. Indian outbound numbers have increased to 92 per cent of pre-pandemic levels from January to June, compared to the same period in 2019. The Taiwan Pavilion at ITB INDIA attracted numerous industry players, facilitating discussions on cooperation opportunities across sectors, including business travel, incentive travel, and wedding photography. With Indian visitor numbers rebounding, Taiwan is rolling out the red carpet for Indian travellers. The delegation was led by Cindy Chen, Acting Director, Taiwan Tourism Administration, Singapore Office; TTA delegations participated at the ITB, Mumbai after a successful showcase at the Taiwan EXPO 2024 in New Delhi in July. The vibrant Taiwan Pavilion at the ITB, Mumbai was a standout, featuring stunning visuals from the serene Sun Moon Lake to the modern skyline of Taipei 101. The captivating displays showcased Taiwan’s blend of natural beauty and urban charm, attracting industry leaders to explore partnership opportunities. Taiwan Tourism made a grand return to the Indian capital, hosting its first post-pandemic roadshow at Le Meridien, New Delhi. The event saw a buzzing turnout of 110+ travel agents and 12+ renowned travel trade media, all excited to rediscover what makes Taiwan the next big destination for Indian travellers. With Air India and EVA Air as airline partners, the spotlight was firmly on promoting seamless travel routes connecting India and Taiwan. The roadshow aimed to reignite interest in Taiwan as a premier leisure and MICE destination and saw enthusiastic participation from the travel industry. Making up for the lost time, Taiwan Tourism Administration has enthusiastically started developing the India market. To what started with OTM earlier this year followed by B2B trade networking events in Delhi and Mumbai, the tourism board has now recently concluded its multi-city road show with the final leg concluding in India’s very own Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, on April 19, 2024. The roadshow in Bengaluru followed another well-attended roadshow in another IT hub, Hyderabad, the previous day. The roadshows were particularly aimed at showcasing Taiwan’s MICE attractiveness and were well attended in all the cities amidst renewed interest and enthusiasm from travel fraternities as well as corporates and event organisers. Speaking of the event, Joseph Cheng, Director of Taiwan Tourism Administration – Singapore Office, said, “Taiwan is a small country yet packs a huge punch as a destination for every segment of travellers, and particularly the MICE groups.
