TAAI hosted the ‘Women of Wonder Awards 2025’ in Delhi to celebrate women across India who have significantly impacted the travel, hospitality, and aviation industry. Among the awardees were Pravati Parida, Dy CM, Odisha, Mugdha Sinha, DG, MOT, etc. Out of 75 awards, 20 were received by TAAI’s Region and Chapter heads.

Rajesh Magow, MMT, Chief Executive Officer said, “Inbound is the only significant laggard.” The main reason was that every big domestic market or region in India was doing well along with other issues like visa issuance, low supply of air seat inventory and high airfares, but it is also making its way slowly now, he added.

Number of FTA’s in India skyrocketed to 6.19 mn, witnessing a substantial increase as compared to 1.52 mn in the year 2021. The top three source countries for FTAs are United States of America, Bangladesh, and United Kingdom, according to MOT data.

People who have travelled for business in the past 18 months are less concerned about the increased risk of catching and transmitting the virus (26%) compared to those who have travelled just for leisure in the past 18 months (43%), reveals Amadeus’ insight on India through its survey titled ‘Rethink Travel’.

A new report by McKinsey & Company states that in addition to table-stakes safety initiatives, brands must differentiate themselves and re-engage their travellers with visible, communications-based cues, such as notifications about health status of destination city and personalised notes on importance of testing and other safety measures.

The direct contribution of travel and tourism sector — which reflects the net value of output generated by hotels, airlines, travel agents, other passenger transportation services (excluding commuter services), and restaurants and leisure industries directly supported by tourists — was expected to rise 6.9 per cent YoY in 2017, suggests a FICCI-KPMG report. This accounts for 3.3 per cent of the country’s GDP, and is expected to form 3.5 per cent of it by 2027. In accordance with its GDP contribution, the sector contributes significantly to job creation. The sector directly accounts for 5.8 per cent of the total employment in India. Further, the Indian travel and tourism sector is expected to have attracted capital investment of Rs 2,387.7 billion (USD35.2 billion) in 2017 — accounting for 5.7 per cent of the total national investment.
