Prateek Hira, IATO, UP Chapter, has said that people are very excited for the convention. “We have received a record number of registrations yesterday and huge spot registrations are taking place. People are paying much more for registrations and wanting to attend the convention,” he said.

IATO honoured Sunil Gupta, Director, Travel Bureau Agra and Badri Nath Bajaj, Founder, Perfect Travels & Tours, with their Hall of Fame award at its 37th annual convention that kicked off in Lucknow, UP. The awards were given away by Ashwini Kumar Patra, Minister of Tourism, Govt of Odisha and Arvind Singh, Secretary Tourism, Govt of India.

Rakesh Verma, Additional Secretary, Tourism, has said that IATO has organized some great sessions and there will be brainstorming on various issues on how industry can accelerate growth and how both government and industry can work together. “I think this will be a very meaningful convention with lot of ideas to benefit the sector,” he added.

IATO’s 37th convention has started with a lot of enthusiasm. Speaking about the convention , Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO said, “The registrations have surpassed 1000 delegates and the association is all set to welcome guests from across the country.”

The 37th IATO Annual Convention is set to start in Lucknow today and will be inaugurated by Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh at the Centrum Hotel, Lucknow at 6 pm. The inauguration of the IATO Travel Mart will be done at 7pm, revealed Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO.

Ravi Gosain, Vice President, IATO said, “Many of us are concerned about what will happen in the future, things have changed, products have changed, and many of the FTOs with whom we do business are no longer in business. As a result, we must create new markets for ourselves. So, these are the few things we will discuss during the Convention, which is why we have specifically chosen this theme, inbound tourism what lies ahead.” 

Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO while addressing the Interactive Luncheon Meeting said, “The way the preparations are going and the response the association is receiving, we’re expecting 1100-1200 people including member spouses as invitees.”

IATO conducted its 40th AGM and informed the members about a detailed note that has been sent to the ministry seeking special status for the Inbound tour operators, under which an incentive between 7 to 10% on the net foreign exchange earnings during a financial year might be given. 

IATO has made numerous representations and sent letters to the Tourism Home Affairs and External Affairs Ministry requesting them for restoration of E-Visa for UK, Canada and other source markets as maximum foreign tourists travel to India from these countries. “Having failed to evoke any response from these ministries, we have written to the PM, hoping for a quick resolution” says IATO President Rajiv Mehra.

Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) will be having their 37th Annual Convention in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, announced Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO. “The exact date and venue for the convention will be announced by the end of next week in consultation with UP Tourism. Uttar Pradesh is changing for the better and is being developed like never before. With new destinations, especially Ram Mandir in Ayodhya coming up in a few years, it will be a huge attraction for tourists. Just like we promoted Amritsar and Varanasi internationally, we will promote Ayodhya and UP as well,” he said.
