Germany is increasingly perceived internationally as a sustainable destination: In the SDG Index, which shows the progress made by 193 nations in meeting the UN climate goals, Germany rises from sixth to fourth place in 2023. According to analyses by IPK, potential guests ranked Germany third out of 27 countries in terms of climate protection and sustainability. The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) is making the most of this favourable attention by launching its international “Simply FEEL GOOD” campaign, which offers a variety of eco-friendly vacation suggestions. Commenting on the campaign launch, Petra Hedorfer, CEO, German National Tourist Board (GNTB) says: “With the award-winning ‘Feel good’ campaign, we have already been successfully promoting the variety of certified sustainable products and services on the international markets since 2021. The 2023 campaign shows how a trip to Germany can combine sustainability, enjoyment and a variety of experiences can be combined on a trip to Germany. The travel ideas selected for the campaign reflect how more and more tourist regions, hotels, tour operators, and mobility service providers are aligning themselves sustainably. The strategic orientation and implementation of the campaign pay very specific attention to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thus underpin our claim to make German incoming tourism more sustainable.” Simply FEEL GOOD 2023 The central element of the GNTB campaign is a landing page at www.germany.travel. The 44th Germany Travel Mart (GTM) opened in Dresden, Germany and saw the presence of tour operators and journalists from around the world. After a short welcome of the delegates at the Church of Our Lady of Dresden, the inaugural ceremony took place at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Petra Hedorfer, CEO, German National Tourism Board addressed the delegates and said that Germany is the second most popular destination for Europeans for the 8th year running and recorded 83.9 million international overnight stays. The Indian delegation had 11 agents and 6 media people. The number of overnight stays from India increased by 13.8 per cent to Germany in the last one year.

The Indian market for Germany is growing strongly at 12.6 per cent till February 2017. India is on track to reach one million overnights by 2020, revealed Romit Theophilus, Director-India, German National Tourist Office (GNTO), on the sidelines of the 43rd Germany Travel Mart (GTM) being held from May 7-9, 2017, in Nuremberg, Bavaria. Speaking at the opening ceremony of GTM 2017, Petra Hedorfer, CEO, German National Tourism Board, said, “A lot has happened all over the world not all of it good. We in Germany stand for openness and tolerance. We welcome people from all nations with great respect from the bottom of our heart.” Emphasising how tourism can build bridges between people and nation’s, she adds, “Let us do everything to ensure that we continue to bring together cultures, people, nation’s from all over the world, wherever it is in Germany.” The event is hosted by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) in cooperation with Bavaria Tourism-the official marketing agency and the Nuremberg Convention and Tourist Office.
