34% of Indians say no to travel until COVID vaccine is out

Around 34% of Indians are still wary of travel, saying they would not feel comfortable traveling until a vaccine for COVID-19 is available, and the same sentiment is seen worldwide, according to the Amex Trendex, a trend report from American Express. It also revealed that 32% Indians already dreaming about their next holiday and 1 in 2 (50%) Indian adults are interested in receiving a trip in 2021 as a gift this holiday season.  They also marked a strong preference and were willing to pay extra for lodging and hotels that offered private and/or socially distanced amenities, eg: socially distanced spas (49%) and private pools (49%). 45% of Indian respondents said they are saving more money for their next trip as a result of the pandemic.

Spain Tourism to conduct virtual roadshow on Dec 2-3

The Tourism Office of Spain – Mumbai will be organising a two-day roadshow with 22 Spanish suppliers on December 2-3, 2020. The suppliers will be a mix of local tourism boards, hotels and DMCs, who will meet key travel agents and tour operators from key source markets of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. LA Tourism launches FB page dedicated to travel agents

Seema Kadam, Regional Director (India), Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, reveals, “We have created a new ‘Travel Trade Facebook’ page for all English-speaking markets. We have a consumer website but realised the importance of having a dedicated B2B page to provide regular updates, showcase new products and answer questions from the global travel trade community on all things LA. We will have information on hotels, special days, LAX Airport updates, COVID protocols, info on LA’s outdoor activities, e-learning Programme i.e L.A, itinerary suggestions, etc. At a later stage, we will built the content to have data on LA/California suppliers.”

Bahrain Tourism & Exhibition Authority appoints Intrepid Marketing & Communications as India representative

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) has assigned Intrepid Marketing & Communications to undertake all its trade, marketing, and communication initiatives across the country to establish Bahrain as Indian travellers’ go-to short-haul destination. Addressing the appointment, Dr. Ali Hasan Follad, Acting Director of Marketing and Tourism Promotions, BTEA, said, “We are thrilled to commence our partnership with Intrepid and are confident that they will be instrumental in navigating Bahrain through the current challenges affecting international travel. We’ve worked with Intrepid’s management and they’ve been instrumental in positioning Bahrain as a notable short-haul destination for the Indian families, couples and adventurers.
