The EEMA Spotlight Awards 2025, held at the vibrant Club Riviera, Gurugram on Saturday, 24 May 2025, was a resounding success, bringing together the crème de la crème of the event and experiential industry to celebrate the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to turn dreams into reality. The evening kicked off on a powerful note with the soul-stirring rhythms of The Mangal Naad Band, setting the tone for a celebration rooted in emotion and excellence. This was followed by a deeply moving original poem by Aditya Malik, emcee & scriptwriter, reflecting on the Spotlight journey and evoking heartfelt nostalgia across the audience. With finesse and energy, Sahithya and Mitin, the emcees for the evening, seamlessly hosted the awards while weaving in spectacular performances and moments of celebration. A power-packed opening act by Laadi Maa and her troupe left the audience awe-struck, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Viraf Sarkari, esteemed Jury Chair and Co-founder of Wizcraft International Entertainment, addressed the audience and provided insights into the robust and transparent judging process, conducted under the esteemed supervision of Ernst & Young. The true spotlight of the evening remained steadfastly on the vendor partners—the backbone of the experiential industry. Samit Garg, President, EEMA, in a heartfelt address, emphasised, “The Spotlight Awards are not about glitz or glamour. They are about the people who make the stage possible. EEMA is collaborating with the MOT to formulate a strategy for wedding tourism. Prerana Agarwal Saxena, Lead, EEMA Wedding Council, SAID, “This strategy comprises a 10-point agenda recommended by EEMA to the ministry and is expected to be finalized by the end of this year.”  

Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) and Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) have jointly planned to organise a nationwide campaign to sensitize industry stakeholders including the Police as well as general public about hotels or wedding venues not requiring to obtain license for playing any sound recording for marriage and related social or religious functions held at the venues.

The Event & Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) has formed a task force from within its members that is responsible for creating SOPs for different segments of MICE. The association conducted a webinar yesterday to inform its members about the proposed SOPs. Roshan Abbas, newly elected EEMA President, said, “These are proposed SOPs and are being shared with all government bodies by our team. We must work together with our clients to dispel all doubts. Let us take a step forward to work with the government and save our industry from distress. Let us take a pledge to do safe events to save events.”

At the recently-concluded Round Table on Tourism on the sidelines of the Russian Indian Summit 2018, Ivan Breganov, Regional Manager of IFS (Russian Visa Center) confirmed that the number of tourist visas issued from January to September 2018 has already surpassed the total number of visas issued in 2017, pegging the YoY growth around 27 per cent. The round table was organised by Russia Expo Center, Moscow along with Russian Information Center, Mumbai (RIC) with more than 120 trade professionals from India attending along with TAAI MC Member Rajan Sehgal and EEMA Executive Vice President Sanjiv Pasricha making the keynote address along with Timur Vekilov, Chief Representative in India of Russ Expo Center. The round table moderated by Paresh Navani, Director, Russ Information Center discussed the needs and special services required by Indians and ways to address the same. In this regard, Russ Information Center announced the pre-launch of Ural Airlines set to begin operations from March 24, 2019 connecting Mumbai to Yekaterinburg and Moscow along with some tourism products to take advantage of the new airline service between the two countries, further RIC presented its ‘Indian Friendly’ programme to the Indian travel trade, the Indian friendly programme trains Russian hotels on Indian culture, cooking Indian dishes and ensure that other specific needs are provided to Indians in Russia. Another point noted by the attendees was that tourists from Russia to India has also grown over the last years by around 29 per cent, showing good recovery of arrival compared to the past few years.
