In a significant development for India’s entertainment and event management industry, Rajeev Jain, Founder, Director, Rashi Entertainment, has been appointed as Chair of the Entertainment Committee at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) for the 2024-25 term. This prestigious role underscores Jain’s reputation as an industry leader and his dedication to advancing the entertainment and events sectors in India. As Chair, Jain will serve as a vital link between industry stakeholders and government representatives, focusing on bridging gaps, addressing challenges, and pursuing new opportunities. His leadership is anticipated to drive forward initiatives aimed at strengthening industry resilience and promoting growth in an increasingly dynamic economic environment. “I am truly excited to work alongside visionary leaders and professionals to encourage innovation, build meaningful partnerships, and promote growth in the industry,” Jain said. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, speaking at PHDCC’s 1st Wedding Tourism Summit & Expo said, “India’s wedding industry is poised to drive the economic growth. About 54 per cent of India’s population is under 30 years and a large part of household income is spent on weddings.”

According to a report prepared by FHRAI, KPMG and PHDCCI, India’s sustainable tourism market is projected to grow at CAGR of 19.3 per cent by 2032. Eco-tourism alone is projected to expand by 15.7 per cent from 2019 to 2027, reaching a staggering market size of US$4.55 billion.

In its latest move, the Tourism Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PHDCCI) has been reconstituted for the year 2020-21 with Anil Parashar, President & CEO, Interglobe Technology Quotient (ITQ) as the Chairman and Rajan Sehgal, Kishore Kaya & Ankush Nijhawan getting elected as the Co-Chairman. Vinod Zutshi, Former Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, GOI, continues to be the Hony. Member and Mentor for the Tourism Committee. The tenure of the newly constituted committee will be 1 year but it can be reconstituted before as well. The committee is dedicated towards the betterment of tourism in India, one that is sustainable and develops India’s heritage tourism.

Ajay Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, Spicejet, has said that we need to use this opportunity to try and collect the imbalances in the industry like the structural problems, get aviation turbine fuel under GST and make this crisis into an opportunity. He was speaking at a webinar organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Singh also lauded the government on resumption of flight operations and putting in place a contactless digital experience for travellers. He shared that there is a need to build confidence among the masses which can be done with the dissemination of information.
