100 viewpoints to be developed across NE as part of tourism development, 22 already sanctioned at ₹49cr cost: Reddy

G Kishan Reddy, Union Tourism Minister, has said that Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of DoNER and Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is developing 100 view-points in North East region. “22 view-points have been taken up for development at a cost of ₹49 crores. In Mizoram 9 viewpoints have been taken up for development at the cost of 12.78 crores,” he added.

The star categorisation criteria for hotels needs a revamp: G Kishan Reddy

Sharing his observations and concerns over the star categorisation criteria for hotels in India, G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for tourism, culture & DoNER, said, “The current categorisation system doesn’t really differentiate between a 100+ room hotel and a 10-20 room hotel. It ruins the whole India experience for a traveller.” He also said that he’s in talk with the government to change criteria for hotel classifications.

Tourism generated 79.86M direct & indirect jobs in 2019-20, as per 3rd TSA: Reddy

As per the 3rd TSA (Tourism Satellite Account) for 2019-20, the contribution of tourism to employment of the country is 79.86 million, revealed G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism, Culture and DoNER in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. Tourism and Hospitality sector is one of the largest employments generating sector in India, he added.
