Clarks Collection signs a new property in Pune under its umbrella. The brand Clarks Collection Pune will cater to business travelers, upscale tourists, and experiential-seeking travelers. The brand is already making a presence in the western part of India, by opening many properties in different cities of Gujarat. They are now entering Maharashtra by opening the first property in Pune. By the end of the financial year 2024, the brand will add 10 more properties to the current portfolio. They are looking for geographical expansion in Ajmer, Udaipur, Kumbalgarh, Ahmedabad, etc. The newly signed property is centrally located and enjoys good connectivity. It is spread over an area of 22000 sqft. The property will have 87 rooms inventory spread across categories, each room will be furnished with all the amenities, needed by the travelers to make their stay comfortable. The resort is equipped with all the facilities, for a family picnic, couple celebration, corporate gathering, or for a memorable outing. They will also have banquet space spread in an area of 2000 sqft, along with a small lawn for conducting functions, corporate meets, or any other event. Various experientials will be curated targeting different sets of audiences. The in-house restaurant will serve multiple cuisines, chiefly North Indian, continental, and also Maharashtrian food. Scindia announces 8 new air routes for MP starting July 16

Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, the new Cabinet Minister for Civil Aviation, has shared that starting July 16, eight new flights will connect the state of Madhya Pradesh to other destinations in India via SpiceJet. The planned routes are Gwalior-Mumbai-Gwalior, Gwalior-Pune-Gwalior, Jabalpur-Surat-Jabalpur and Ahmedabad-Gwalior-Ahmedabad. Scindia says that his Ministry and the aviation industry are committed to taking UDAN to greater heights with these routes.

Maharashtra tourism department to host cultural festivals in 6 regions

Maharashtra’s tourism department has announced 20 mini festivals across six regions of the state – Konkan, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati and Nagpur – in Feb and Mar. An amount of Rs100 lakh has also been earmarked for organising these festivals that will provide tourists an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage tourism of Maharashtra.

Nepal to focus on M!CE and developing night tourism

Nepal will develop night tourism in Kathmandu and will be focusing on M!CE tourism from India, revealed Lila Bahadur Baniya, Officiating Director, Nepal Tourism Board, while addressing the delegates at the Nepal Sales Mission, organised by Nepal Tourism Board, the National Tourism Organization (NTO) of Government of Nepal, in Amritsar. Nepal Sales Mission, is travelling to 9 Indian Cities from 6th January to 1st February 2020. The event has successfully concluded in Amritsar and will now go to other Indian cities of Chandigarh, Jaipur, Indore, Surat, Pune, Trichy, Trivandrum and Kochi. The mission is aimed at bringing all the travel trade partners together to update about various destination of Nepal and educate regarding the recent developments in Nepalese tourism. Hotel occupancy gains strength in Delhi and Pune: Horwath

Hotel occupancy in Delhi and Pune crossed 70 per cent, according to a latest report by Horwath on ‘India Hotel Market Review 2018’. Delhi has grabbed the opportunity presented by GST replacing a usurious luxury tax with both hands, the report says. It performed well in all the parameters with occupancy rising to 71.7 per cent, ADRs at 7.5 per cent and RevPAR at 11.6 per cent. Aerocity hotels have fully dialled in – rooms demand, ADR and banqueting. Corporate, MiCE and retail business which chose Gurugram over Delhi because of major tax savings under Luxury tax have shown preference for Delhi once an even playing field was created. Aerocity itself has expanded its commercial spaces. Pune, too, had a good year in 2018, crossing 70 per cent occupancy and pushing through over 7 per cent ADR growth to post 11 per cent RevPAR increase. A solid Tier 1 business city, Pune’s growth can be attributed to MiCE and partly to the shift of some IPL games to this city.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of seven more Holiday Inn Express hotels from the IHG-SAMHI partnership. The hotels are spread across Pune, Hyderabad, Nashik, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. ADR for Indian mid-scale hotels crosses Rs 3,000 for the first time

The Average Daily Rate (ADR) for Indian mid-scale hotels crossed 3,ooo for the first time in 2018, according to a latest report by Horwath on ‘India Hotel Market Review 2018’. Mumbai is the only market at the top right hand corner – unfortunately, it fell back from strong occupancy position, without materially gaining in ADR. Several occupancy shifts have been in the negative direction. Bengaluru, Goa and Jaipur dropped Occ between 2.7 pts and 4 pts. Bengaluru is particularly surprising because there is no supply growth in this segment. Bengaluru and Goa at least made up on the ADR front; the former added over Rs 300 to comfortable cross the Rs 3k level. Goa ADR growth was more modest but is now pushing the Rs 4k level. Jaipur dropped rate as well – only Rs 60 but that’s material when one is in the low Rs 2k level. Delhi, Gurugram, Pune and Chennai moved up to the right, gaining both Occ and ADR. Occupancy gains varied from 0.8 pts to 1.5 pts; while ADR gains spread significantly between 3.3 per cent and 12.6 per cent. Improving product quality at the mid-scale level (e.g. the revitalised Ginger and Park Inn by Radisson) could enable improve performance for this segment. It really needs Occ growth in key markets to compensate softer initial period results from smaller cities and towns in which this segment must penetrate.
