Kerala is all set to kick-start four international events in 2024. The events include International Paragliding Festival, Surfing Festival, International Mountain Cycling Championship, and Malabar River Festival. More than 15 countries will participate in these events, says State Tourism Minister.

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has launched India’s first regenerative tourism model in the state. He said, “Goa has a rich cultural heritage including some temples known as South Kashi, and 11 spiritual sites in the coastal state would be promoted under the Ekadasha Teertha scheme.”

To attract more tourists, Andaman and Nicobar administration has taken initiatives, including granting access to uninhabited islands, allowing beaches to stay open till late night, development of a 5-star property at Megapode in Port Blair under PPP, and reaching out to more airlines.

P A Mohamed Riyas, Kerala Tourism Minister, mentioned, “Heli-tourism endeavour enables tourists to save time during their visits to destinations. Travellers may sometimes face a few hiccups with surface travel in the state. Thus heli-tourism will be of immense benefit”.

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary Madhya Pradesh Tourism said, “Long distance, intra-state cruises will be a new attraction for 2024. We have a buoyant plan for cruise tourism in 2024. The main attraction will be the nearly 130 km inter-state cruise on river Narmada.”

P A Mohammed Riyaz, Tourism Minister of Kerala, urges and says, “There is a huge potential for beach tourism in Kerala, and 580-km coastline will be utilised effectively. It will also investors has expressed their intent to investing in beach tourism and it would be under the public-private partnership model”.

Himachal Assembly passed the HP Tourism Development and Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2023, mandating registration for tourism units. CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu introduced the bill, requiring existing units to register within 30 days without fees until the current license expires.  

In order to provide impetus to the development of adventure tourism in the country, MOT has set up a National Board for Adventure Tourism under Secretary (Tourism) and comprising Central Ministries, states and industry stakeholders to provide guidance for the development of the sector. Seven strategic pillars have been identified for development of sustainable tourism, adventure tourism and ecotourism. These include state assessment, skills, marketing, strengthening safety framework, national and state level rescue grid, destination and product development, and governance and institutional framework.
