G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister, Tourism, Culture & DoNER addressed the mega-tourism event ‘Ladakh: New Start, New Goals’ virtually, where ‘A Tourism Vision for Ladakh’ document was unveiled which focuses on overall development of the Ladakh Region. “The Central government has also contributed Rs.23.21 Crore for Tourist Water Screen Projection Multimedia show and other tourist attractions and also developing Chaukihang Vihara Project under the PRASHAD scheme,” announced Reddy.

Senior delegation from PATA India Chapter met with G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister, Tourism & Culture, and put forth their recommendations and requests for his consideration. The minister gave them enough time, a patient hearing and has agreed to implement many of their suggestions. He also mentioned that he will have another meeting soon.

G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister, Tourism & Culture, has said that the centre, the state, industry and the private stakeholders need to jointly identify the priority areas, so that the revival of tourism, is focused on a sustainability and responsible travelling. “To achieve true potential of tourism, the fundamental requirement is to ensure coordination at every level of activity. We need to have a proactive approach from every stakeholder, be it centre, state, industry or private players,” he added.

Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy has said that 31 MSME units were sanctioned Rs234.7 crore during 2021 by way of sanctioned Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) to MSME by Tourism Finance Corporation India (TFCI) under Atmanirbhar Bharat package announced on May 13 this year. Apart from that, loan of Rs1541.65 crore was also sanctioned to 47 borrowers by TFCI during 2018-19 to 2019-20, he said.

G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister, Tourism & Culture, in a written reply to Rajya Sabha, shared that around 21.5 million people working in the sector lost their jobs during the nine-month period from April 2020-December 2020. He said that a significant number of jobs were lost in the tourism sector once the lockdown was implemented. “About 14.5 million jobs during Q1, 5.2 million during Q2 and 1.8 million jobs during Q3 were expected to have been lost as compared to estimated 34.8 million jobs in the pre-pandemic period of 2019-20 [direct jobs],” he shared.

G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister for Tourism & Culture, held a review meeting with ministers and senior officials of the northeastern states on development of tourism and promotion of the culture of the region. At the meeting held in the Assamese city of Guwahati, representatives shared their commitment to the holistic and inclusive development of the tourism sector in the Northeast.

Cabinet Minister for Tourism & Culture, G Kishan Reddy, recently met with Alok Ranjan, Minister of Art Culture & Youth Department, Government of Bihar, to discuss the several initiatives undertaken by the state for the promotion of its culture and heritage. As part of the continued efforts, Bihar Museum is also all set to open its largest gallery for visitors from September.

Cabinet Minister for Tourism & Culture, G Kishan Reddy, along with Ministers of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal and Meenakshi Lekhi, recently reviewed the various initiatives undertaken at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, including the virtual museum and the audio-visual App.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister for Tourism & Culture, has shared that three monuments of Andhra Pradesh – monuments at Nagarjunakonda, District Guntur; Buddhist remains at Salihundam, District Srikakulam; and Veerabhadra Temple at Lepakshi – have been identified as Adarsh Smarak for providing additional facilities like Wi-Fi, cafeteria, interpretation centre, illumination, etc.

G Kishan Reddy, Cabinet Minister, Tourism & Culture, met with ML Khattar, CM, Haryana, where they discussed several matters pertaining to the overall development of tourism in the state & propagation of its cultural heritage. Also, he met Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Minister of Tourism, Manipur, and deliberated on key issues in improving tourism in the state of Manipur.
